POSSIBLY THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!

I took a nice young lady out to see Alice in Wonderland on Friday and we saw it in IMAX DIGITAL 3D awesomeness! The companionship was fantastic and we had a good time. I cannot get over how cool the 3D was. The previews were the coolest because to be honest I just wanted to be around the girl so we could have gone to see Springtime for Hitler for all I cared. How to Train Your Dragon was cool and so was Shrek and some Owl movie. But the coolest thing was the preview for Hubble. There is a part where there is a cable running the length of the shot and it looks like you can literally reach out and touch it. Then there is a big shot of a astronaut and it looks like it right in your face!

COOLEST THING EVER! I hope the broadcast OU football games in 3D someday!

I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D and it was awesome. The previews in 3D were sweet as well. College football is actually going to be the first thing on the new ESPN 3D channel to be broadcasted regularly. By the end of 2010 you will see 3D televisions become somewhat mainstream and several channels already broadcasting.....ESPN, Discovery Channel, and another I can't remember are already planning to launch this year.

But you have to admit that too would be funny as the dong swings out into the audience and everyone ducks.

Mainstream? no.

Well mainstream was not the right word. Props for picking apart my post. I had read an article in Popular Science magazine about those three channels working on broadcasting a new 3D channel in the near future. Phillips has already created a 3D television that does not require the glass to see 3D. Images are projected from like nine different angles to the viewer creating a 3D image. Other companies are developing their own as well. ESPN has already broadcasted our championship game against Florida in 3D to theaters and last years USC-tOSU game in 3D to each campus. The World Cup this summer is in line to be broadcasted in 3D as well. The 3D TVs have yet to hit the market but they have been shown at expos and what not. Now, when they do hit the market they will be very expensive, and there will be little demand due to the lack of stations broadcasting. Will they ever become truly mainstream? I have no clue. It may be a huge flop. I was just trying to convey what I had read about concerning the future of 3D broadcasting.

And there are inherent issues with all of the above technologies. For instance, viewing angle add the fact that 3D on anything less than a 55 inch monitor won't be all that. And that screen will cost some serious bank in this suck economy. Will people possibly sit down and watch a movie with some goofy glasses on? Maybe, but they won't want to more than once or twice a week. Yeah, there will be a some broadcasts in 3d, but the issue is also the signal and bandwidth from what I have read. I have worked on 3D shoots and the question is still, "Does the end pay out of this make it worth our while with the costs that we are eating?" And these people still don't have the answer to this.

and you call my previous post "picking apart"? seriously?

Not that having big high def screens isn't awesome, but when I saw avatar in one, my eyes hurt after about an hour and it was easier to watch the blurry 3d screen without the glasses to keep the eyes from hurting :(

At least there's no dooshiness in this thread or anything....
