NORMAN -- Oklahoma sophomore guard Willie Warren will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle Wednesday.

Warren injured the ankle in practice Jan. 21, missed two games and then re-injured it in the final stages of OU's Feb. 17 game at Colorado. He has missed the Sooners' last four contests.

Last season's Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Warren is averaging a team-high 16.3 points in his 21 games this year. He would rank ninth in the Big 12 Conference in scoring, eighth in assists (4.1 apg) and 10th in free throw percentage (.795), but he is one appearance shy of qualifying for the rankings.

Oklahoma closes the regular season Saturday at 11 a.m. CT with a home game against No. 23 Texas A&M. The Sooners will play a first-round Big 12 Championship game Wednesday, March 10, in Kansas City (time and opponent to be determined).

Figures.

I heard Capel talking about the possibility of surgery last night. He said it was a bone bruise which also had some sort of cartilage damage.
