Nope, he's a role model, smoking is THE WORST thing you can do for your health, he's gotta be the example, he's gotta quit. Hey, no one asked him to run for president--if you want to drink, smoke, and party, fine, just don't do it when your the effin President of the United States. It's a different day, my friend, that was before the innerwebz, 24 hour news on 15 channels, and intimate inspections of the private lives of politicians. The rules have changed. JFK would never get away with his philandering in this day and age, and like I said, if you wanna be the Prez, you gotta set the example 24/7 or else someone is gonna bust your ***. It's the main reason a lot of talented and qualified people stay out of politics, to the detriment of us all, but I don't see it changing any time soon. Still, if you want the power, ya gotta take the bad with the good, and that means trashing the smokes.

I agree with RLIMC, but not as sarcastically. The last thing I want is a press who can't relax and nicotine fits really f*ck up a guy's mood. He'd go on a friggin' rampage and make even worse decisions IMO. As long as a president keeps a level head, I think they should do what they want privately. I wouldn't want the guy smoking a cig or a doob out in public for the role model reasons that Sunny mentioned, but I also wouldn't want a guy having moody withdrawls "with his finger on the button" as they say.

Historically presidents with a few dirty habits tend to lead well.
