At least they have a national anthem that everybody can sing and that everybody doesn't mind singing. And it's really not a bad song, although I heard it more than enough in the last 2+ weeks.

I got nothin against the Star Spangled Banner, but it's not real easy to sing. I've often thought America the Beautiful or God Bless America would be a better national anthem for us, but "land of the free and home of the brave" is pretty hard to part with.

Nothing wrong with "The Star-Spangled Banner," especially since its lyric was lifted from a bawdy c.1778 English drinking song (Google "To Anacreon in Heaven".) Moreover, it can more easily be sung if set in a lower key, as advocated and demonstrated by Garrison Keillor.

I'll admit that their anthem is better than their safety precautions or their referee'ing of short track speed skating.

But that's about it. Screw em.

This is true about the lower key. And, as i havbe said before, you gotta keep it moving: Slow crooners of the SSB need shootin'! Nice rendition of "To Anacreon" as well. :D
