Experts warned that a tsunami could strike anywhere in the Pacific. Emergency officials set off shrieking alarm sirens across parts of Hawaii, which could face its largest waves since 1964 starting at 11:19 a.m. (4:19 p.m. EST, 2119 GMT), according to Charles McCreery, director of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

Yeah, it's a log scale - 8.8 is 63 times as powerful as 7.0.

One of the major news stations was saying that it was 500 times stronger than the one that hit Haiti.

It lasted for 90 seconds.

I have a buddy in Honolulu and he said they have been evacuating for about 8 hours. He is waiting it out high on a mountain.

Saying chili is our way of taking the "E" out of earthquake. Doing that is our way of showing that we care.

Yeah, it isn't like they can easily move to a part of the country that isn't quake prone. Prayers and good wishes for those affected by these quakes.
