2012.

The world also ends in 2012 so OU will win the last National Championship ever.

Most people over on OF will think it ended if we don't win it anyway.

2004 would be as legit as some of Michigan, tOSU, USC and Bama's titles if so.

I think the final poll was

1 USC
2 Auburn
3 Utah
4 Tejas

... but I could be wrong. Don't see OU climbing up to that.

Besides that, the NCAA doesn't award, recognize nor police National Championships. Even if they did, the most they'd do is "vacate" the win.

it'll be completely unexpected. it seems like whenever a team is a unanimous pick to win it, they don't and the winner often seems to be a team that was "a year away"...

2011. At least thats when it seems we have the best chance. I'm not gonna say "this is when it will be exactly", because in my opinion, we should have won the national titles in 2003 and 2008 with what we had. I want next year to be good, and we have alot of guys returning, i just dont think we'll be quite there yet. But not alot of people will be graduating after 2010, so 2011 looks good.

Every year for the next 50 years :D

If not this year, then next year.

There's always a next year when it isn't this year.

And if it isn't this year or next year, there's always the seven we already have.

^^^ this. It really does seem so random and fickle. I think we've had the talent to win it almost every year of Stoops regime, except for 2005 and possibly 2006. Injuries, bad bounce of the ball, one or two bad play calls or blown assignments - there is such a fine line between success and failure.

Isn't this like predicting what year you'll win the Powerball lottery? The variables are totally unpredictable.

Having said that, I like our chances this year...

Knowing that the world ends in 2012, they will move up the championship game. However, they will still not agree to a playoff :D

Isn't that the truth! I think almost everyone figured we'd win at leat one more with Jamelle & Co. And as loaded as OU has been a couple times since 2000... well, that's why they play the games...

I'll say I don't know, but I hope it's soon.

The funny thing is 2000 to 2011 or 2012 isn't that much of a difference between 1985 and 2000.

It just seemed a lot longer when you are young.

if the greatness of o-line and Defense can get in sync - next shot is 2011. Then the question will be - will we be good enough to beat the SEC champ.

Bottom line - as always it will depend on injures and depth.

We need to unleash Landry and all of our play makers proven and future! We should be out in space with any one of several players in any formation. If we want to gash them up the middle great! The spread was built to help mediocore athletes to keep up with great ones. We have both, time for another magical run and high octane! 2011

Well, according to UT's Taylor Bible, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 will give the Longhorns four consecutive BCS Titles.

Texas' Taylor Bible: Longhorns can win next four national titles

06:20 PM CST on Thursday, February 25, 2010
By KYLE WHITFIELD / HS GameTime

Taylor Bible has a sort of quiet confidence about himself.

He’s not full of himself. Though plenty of first-class high school athletes are.

He’s not loud or flamboyant. But he does stand out as a 6-3, 300-pound football player.

And he’s not a big talker. In fact, he’s known to his friends as a big teddy bear.

He does have huge expectations for his college career, however.

Bible said this week that Texas will win four national championships and the next four Red River Rivalry games while he’s a Longhorn. His predictions seem to throw all those low-key, humble observations about him out the window -- except when you hear the reasoning behind his projections.

"The teamwork, the chemistry, the trust, the coaches and the talent we possess,” he said, explaining why Texas will four-peat, “the fact that we know we’re high caliber enough to win four.”

Notice the absence of the words “me,” “my” or “I” in his explanation.

Bible, a former defensive tackle at Denton Guyer and an important member of the Longhorns’ latest top-notch recruiting class, will have a shot at living up to his predictions as early as the 2010 season. Texas coaches have told him, he said, that he can play right away.

“They told me that they wanted me to play my freshman year and not redshirt,” Bible said. “They said they need more defensive lineman, and they’d have me in a rotation. What they’re hoping for me to do is come in during the summer and be able to catch on, adapt to the system and be in good shape that I could possibly start too.”

Bible plans to graduate from high school in the first week of June, head to Austin a few days later, take some summer classes and begin workouts with the team.

“I know when I get there I’m going to learn so many new things,” he said. “It’s going to be overwhelming when I get there – 18 years old, in college, playing Division I football for a national-championship caliber team. That’d be almost overwhelming to anybody."

It'll all be worth it of course if he can help Texas win a ring -- or four -- while he's there.

***************************

Well, hopefulness, a positive outlook and eagerness are qualities every team wants their players to have. And it's the Sooners' job to dash every single atom of hope for those four years right out of 'em.
:D
