And like it or not, we have a mainstream media cabal with a leftward bias that is thrilled that these are the morons representing conservatism. .You're right. Never would have thought to look for any connection with Goldwater. Poor guy became a namby lefty, cowtowing to his trophy wife in later yrs. I don't know what or who you want for a leader of conservatism, but a confused(at best) part-timer like McCain didn't move anyone to action, and the congressional and gubernatorials that are getting elected now are not fence-straddlers. They are solid conservtives, it appears.
