Boys, he's not going to say that sh!t in front of his dear ol' mum, now is he?

Also, I think that there were some of his wifey's family next to her that he hugged also. At first I thought they might be some of his half-siblings, but if they were, they would have been half-black, so my guess is they're Swedes like wifey.

So, that's what he's saying backstage now, out of earshot from mum and the Swede in-laws.

His only downfall was getting married with a 300 million dollar prenump. Wilt the stilt slept with 3 woman a day for 20 years!

I guess now that he is only worth 700 million and he only makes about 15 million a year from Golf - that he is trying to save his marriage and image for sponsors.

He shouldn't have gotton married, and when he married the twins, I thought it was his plan to have either one when he wanted too :)

He clearly wasn't ready to get married, if I were him, I would be damn sure I was ready with all that cash, woman etc.

I also think as competitive as woman are for that cash, and profile that they are offended the least by this.. WOman know how other woman are in my experience and the all mighty dollar is the only reason these people came forward after the fact.

2/19/2010, 12:24 PM
I think Tiger's mom has a tremendous amount of influence on him. The Buddhist comments... the fact that he got married so she could have grandchildren (she's mentioned that she really wanted grandchildren in past interviews) the way she has spoken in the past about family honor and not allowing him to embarrass her... I doubt you'd see such an effort to make amends privately and publicly if Tiger's mom wasn't in the equation. Maybe all those rock stars and athletes that have taken this similar path just needed mommy dearest to whip them into shape?

i did sort of like Ernie not mincing words (from the main CNN article linked above):

"Some golfers didn't agree, however. "It's selfish," Ernie Els told GolfWeek. "You can write that. I feel sorry for the sponsor. Mondays are a good day to make statements, not Friday. This takes a lot away from the golf tournament.""

I think the golfers have held their tongue in the past because they don't want a beat down on the golf course.

i don't think the tour guys minded watching the tour purses go up about 30% in the Eldrick Era, either. those guys are money ho's. they had a Golf Channel thing on the moneys i watched during the Christmas snow storm at my dad's house. maybe if you are 40-100 on the moneylist maybe you might not have a puncher's shot to win that PGA with Tiger around but making that extra 100,000 large makes living with him worth it.

Hell, why not go with OU's Anthony Kim? He's young, he's kinda cute and people might mistake him for Tiger's younger brother with the Nike hats and not-too-shabby results on the course!

If a sport has to rely on a single personality to thrive (or in Tiger's case lack of a personality) perhaps the sport is not compelling enough for the public to watch on its own merit. Personally I enjoy watching golf with or without Tiger.

On another topic I think I can do without paying a $5 Tiger "tax" to Nike the next time I need to buy tennis shoes. So that's an area where I'd rather go Tigerless. I don't care about Tiger cars, Tiger drinks, or any of the other Tiger products. I remember the days when OJ Simpson was a huge product endorsement star. People loved the benign fake OJ personality. Anyone remember the "OJ Dingo" cowboy boots?

I'm no huge Tiger fan, but I have to admit I'll watch more golf if he's playing. Why? Because the ****er is good. Not just good, he's damn good. Not just damn good, he's the best golfer this planet has ever seen. I love Jack, Arnold, Ben, Lee, Bobby, and all the good ol' boys, but Eldrick can flat out bring it on a golf course. Especially when the pressure is on. This is just an undeniable fact, and it's fun to watch. By the same token, I enjoy it when some lesser talent rises up and beats him head-to-head. I mean what could be better than hitting the 19th hole going "I just beat the best golfer in the history of the planet."??

1st of all, I thought the whole idea of reading a prepared statement was pointless, he didnt owe that to anyone

2nd, if he is going to get up and speak I agree that he doesnt need to answer questions but he could atleast speak and not read

3rd, everyone knows that the sex rehab deal is a joke, everyone knows that he is only sorry that he got caught, he got up there and showed arrogance and selfishness in parts of his prepared speech which is rediculous. He is a coward and he likely still feels entitled to do as he pleases

Of course I dont KNOW for a fact that he isnt honestly sorry and wants to be a better person but based off of this, I highly doubt it

He is doing the therapy to appease his wife, at this point he is saying woman throw themselves at him and he could not resist and thought that he deserved the temptation because of his sucsess and was ultimately addicted to it.

Tiger has been playing golf since he was 1 years old, and really has had zero screw up's in his life. He probably loves his wife but was not ready whatsoever for that kind of legitimate commitment and as someone else pointed out on the board - probably just appeased his mom for grandchildren.

He is just appeasing his existing sponsor's, I know a lot of good men who are not faithful to their wives - especially with the tail that tiger was getting. He shouldn't have been married and as most young men will do- is find out the hard way to a tune of 300 Million dollars...

Don't get married unless you are damn sure, the divorce rate is 55%.

I would be surprised if anyone can claim the temptation Tiger felt with these woman and basically having any luxury he wanted at the age of 21.

[My wife] Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. As Elin pointed out to me, my real apology to her will not come in the form of words; it will come from my behavior over time.

How do you know he 'always has' do you have the time line of when he banged all these chicks?

I mean for all we know he coulda banged em all in the last week...

Give me a break, it was represented as atleast happening over several years and who cares what he says, why should he be believed. Thats why I thought this whole deal was pointless, it doesnt mean or prove anything

what benefit of doubt do you want him to get? Its not like someone reported that he cheated and he is denying it, its not like he cheated once and apologized, he did all of this to himself so there is no benefit of doubt to give him

I fully understand being on the road away from his wife.... Boat load of money and woman around.... It is one thing for a guy to come on to anything he see's, it is another thing entirely when they are tempting you non-stop. If you are tempted day in and day out, not everyone and maybe not even half of the men on here could say they would not slip up. Turns out he liked it to the point of addiction and had some of them come along as roadies.

This is a humbling experience for him in my opinion... King David had more than his share of woman, weather he was married or not in the 10s of thousands.. His downfall was going for one he wasn't supposed to have and killing the dude for it when he could have anyone in the world damn near.

Tiger ain't bad, in fact i would have liked to been one of his trusted roadies...

I dont get how anyone can say this was heartfelt, if it was heartfelt he would speak from the heart and not a statement that his agent likely prepared for him.

Sorry but I get sick of these athletes/politicians/movie stars, etc... who do something stupid and then cant even get up like a big boy or girl and speak about it unless they have a statement in front of them or someone reading it for them

Easy to say when you aren't in the public spotlight.

I for one am not wallowing in his misery, all I have ever said is that I didnt believe the sincerity of his press conf. I also said that I didnt think he owed anything to me or anyone else other than his family. I havent forgiven him because I dont hold any grudge towards him, that is between him and his family, I just dont buy what he was selling today

So, being rich and famous is an out for acting like this? There are many rich and famous people who value family and dont go around sleeping with random women. People make mistakes, sleeping with the amount of women he slept with isnt a mistake, its a lifestyle. Excusing his actions cus he has so much out there tempting him is weak.

Back to my original point, I dont think he even needed to do this conference today, my gripe is that if you are going to do a press conf atleast speak from your heart and not read a prepared statement and take a few questions, even if they are softball questions

I'm not talking about his behavior, I'm talking about his presser. You're busting his balls because he brought a prepared statement.

I've spoken in public and on TV. It's not easy.

My point is I"ll bet you'd a been whizzin in your drawers. Hell even the greatest orator in history Obama uses some aid.

Collier, I agree it was pointless for us or his family. I think the fact is he has to be real smart about it because of the money... 100s of millions of dollars, that not just for him but the entire empire he built.

It changes people and it changes their perspectives, we are talking 100s of millions that not even the media or the cronies on ESPN can fathom.

I bet in the backroom right now, they are discussing weather or not he should provide details of his sex life on Oprah so all the woman in the world can get there kicks like the bachelor or some kind of reality TV show and make billions.

It was pointless to the normal person.... It is what it is and you may never really hear Tiger for what he is off the Golf course...

He probably didn't even want to apologize, he has 1000 VP and Executives crawling up his arse because he is the bread and butter of their families.

Answering questions even if he wanted to would have probably been advised against... The guys saying speak from the heart, don't be a ***** about it - even ex athletes don't have a Billion dollars on the line...

I for one, thought Mark Mcguire's speach was terrible and made it clear he was delusional.

Tiger's handlers should have taken a clue from the masterful speech Clinton gave after getting nailed for infidelity....

"Members of Congress...people of America.... I banged her.

I banged her like a cheap gong. Which is not news, folks,
because if you think Monica Lewinsky was the only skin-
flute player in my orchestra, you haven't been paying
attention. The only babes in D.C. I haven't tried to do
are The First Lady, Reno, Albright, and Shalala, mostly
because they're a Little older than I like and they have
legs that former Houston Oiler Earl Campbell would envy.
Which isn't to say I don't appreciate Hillary... I do. If
not for the ice-water coursing through her veins, I'd be
Pumping gas into farm equipment in Hope, Arkansas, and
she'd be married to The President.

So, let me set the record straight. I dodged the draft, hid
FBI files, smoked dope, flipped Whitewater property, set up
a new Chinese wing in the White House, fired the travel
staff, paid hush money to Hubbell, sold the Lincoln bedroom
like an upscale Motel 6, and grabbed every *** that entered
the Oval Office. Got it? Good.

Six years ago, there's not a man, woman, or child who
didn't know I was as horny as Woody Allen. But, you elected
me anyway, which turned out to be a good move on your part.
Your other choice was Bush, an aging Baseball player and
part-time resident of some place called "Kennebunkport."
There was Reagan, who left the office with the same
Alzheimer's he came in with. There was Carter before him
who brought you a 17% prime interest rate, smiling the
whole time like his lithium drip had just kicked in. Nixon
before that coined, but never really understood, the
concept of 'plausible deniability,' and almost got a
one-way ticket to San Clemente for his crackerjack style of
governing. Johnson was an inbred, power-mad war criminal
whose major contribution to American society was Agent
Orange. And John Kennedy, who was a little naughty himself,
didn't hang around long enough for America to spot that
curious atavistic tic for "beaver-wrestling" shared by at
least a dozen former residents of the White House. Which
brings me back to my point.

Since I have been strumming the banjo here at the White
House government is doing more for less. The budget is
balanced for the first time since JFK did a one gun salute
to Marilyn, a fact the press didn't seem to care about,
evidently. Unemployment is so low today a blind felon can
get a job as a night- watchman. The stock market is higher
than a D-student on a full gram of dumb-dust, and anyone
with a degree from a junior college who can spell
'internet' has enough money to ponder the annual
maintenance cost of his boat, instead of where his or her
next meal is coming from. Bottom line: I'm running a
country here and I'm doing it with my pecker showing.

What I'm asking for is your support, not a date with your
daughter... unless, of course, she's a hotty with thin
ankles, and then I'd like to discuss it. In the meantime,
think about where you are today and what kind of life
you're living before you get too interested in where I'm
parking the Presidential limousine.

Thank you, good night and God bless America. (Fade out
with "Hail to the Chief" playing in the background)
