Big Explosion closeby. Evidently a plane has hit a building and exploded close to here. Hope everyone is okay. but I doubt it.

Turns out IRS building next door to FBI building.

This is after a report of a big house fire in pflugerville. Turns out its the pilots home.

Criminal or terrorist activity" not indicated, Homeland Security spokesman says

perhaps we need to change our usage of these words

terrorist <> Islamic Extremists

i'm pretty sure arson is a crime too

12:32 p.m.: The FAA said the plane departed Georgetown Municipal Airport, north of Austin, about 9:40 a.m., and that the pilot did not file a flight plan.

No shock that this came soon after.

12:40 p.m.: Federal officials said two F-16 fighter jets were launched as a precaution after the crash, though terrorist intent was not indicated.

Yeah, but terrorist ~~ Islamic Extremists. Look back on the major acts of terrorism in the last 30 years. You'll be able to count the non-Islamic terrorists on one hand.

If there's a terrorist, the laws of probability dictate that it's most likely a Muslim.

I received a text from a fellow Sooner in Austin right after it happened saying, "Have you seen the plane that crashed into the building off Mopac? Sources say the plane was carrying a banner that said 37-21." I know it's a sad deal but I did get a chuckle out of it.

When we received the forms back I was very optimistic that they were in order. I had taken all of the years information to Bill Ross, and he came back with results very similar to what I was expecting. Except that he had neglected to include the contents of Sheryl’s unreported income; $12,700 worth of it. To make matters worse, Ross knew all along this was missing and I didn’t have a clue until he pointed it out in the middle of the audit. By that time it had become brutally evident that he was representing himself and not me.

This left me stuck in the middle of this disaster trying to defend transactions that have no relationship to anything tax-related (at least the tax-related transactions were poorly documented). Things I never knew anything about and things my wife had no clue would ever matter to anyone. The end result is… well, just look around.

Guys, this is a great time for a PSA. Here's Amendment XVI to our Constitution.

The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect a tax on income, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
Say what you will about how wrong this is, but this amendment means that Congress can tax any source on income, whether it be wages, gains from bartering, interest income, unemployment benefits, gambling winnings, etc. If you don't want to get audited, report ALL income.

No, it's not this simple, but this is the jist of it.

This guys "manifesto" is all over the place. He comes off very leftist except for his hatred of the UAW. He tries to quote the communist manifesto, but "from each according to his means, to each according to his need" is actually from Marx. This guy has lost his mind totally. I guess if anybody can do that to you, it would be the IRS.

Anyway, I think this qualifies as domestic terrorism. Or maybe man caused disaster if you're one of those.

This guy was nuts and stupid. I kept thinking, reading through the letter, going "well that was dumb, why did you do that?" I've been in the "real world" five whole years and even I have more sense than this guy did.

Another tragedy is this guy's counselor will never get over the fact that he screwed up SO bad in treating the patient. Hopefully the wife and daughter go somewhere else to heal their wounds...

Dear Dead Taxpayer.
Your death does not change the fact we have a tax lien on your estate which we will enforce to the full extent of the law. Which, BTW, includes levying against any and all insurance proceeds received by your widow.
Love,
IRS

Statesman.com - Two bodies recovered at crash site, officials say (http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/blotter/entries/2010/02/18/officials_bodies_recovered_at.html?cxntcid=breakin g_news)
By Isadora Vail | Thursday, February 18, 2010, 06:10 PM

Officials said two bodies have been recovered from the Northwest Austin building that was hit by a small plane this morning.

FBI spokesman Eric Vasys said tonight that one body had been recovered from the building earlier in the day, and that it is believed to be that of suspected pilot Andrew Joseph Stack. Vasys said the body was sent to forensic evidence specialists for confirmation.

Vasys said another body was found later in the day.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo confirmed that a body was recovered this afternoon, but he could not confirm whether it was the pilot or a missing federal employee.
