My wife delivered a beautiful (big) baby girl yesterday! She was 9 lbs 5 oz. Due date was actually Feb. 18th..but we went ahead and induced yesterday. She's bigger than our son was when he was born. So he may have his hands full in a few years!

There were some complications after delivery with the baby. The way I understand it is that she was having some problems getting enough oxygen saturation on her own. They said she had a little of what they call respiratory distress from the delivery. Most of this is due to some fluid in her lungs they think.
But I am pleased to say that today however, she is off of the oxygen assistance breathing totally on her own now and seems to be doing worlds better. Other than this little problem, she is a big and healthy baby girl. Except for a hazy chest xray this morning, all signs show that she is turning the corner for the better. We're not sure if she'll get to come home w/us or if they'll keep her for precautionary measures a little longer. We will wait to see what the doctor says today.
So in a nutshell, everything looks like baby will be fine, but please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers...that never hurts.
Thanks all.

9 1/2 pounds? You sure you don't mean linebacker instead of cheerleader?

Congrats.

Thanks everyone for your congrats and support. Mrs. OU-HSV and our new daughter were both released from the hospital today. Everything seems to be going smoothly so far. Just taking me a bit to get used to this baby thing, our son will be 5 years old next month. But I'm hoping it's like riding a bike and comes back to me with a quickness :D
We're just both so happy that she got clearance to come home with us. She's improved dramatically since birth and once they took her of O2 assistance, she never had to go back on it.
I emailed myself some pics from my cell phone, then downloaded them to my computer, but I'm having trouble getting them on here. It keeps telling me to make sure I have rights to the image. So hang tight in regards to the pics.

PS...Dean, if she was a he, you are correct...linebacker material all the way. Especially the attitude :D

Thanks everyone. We're pretty biased but we think she's the prettiest baby girl we've ever seen!

Last night was our second night at home and I must say WOW. I forgot how sleepless the first few/several weeks are with a newborn. She basically kept us awake all night long, crying. Just when we thought she was calmed down we'd doze off and she'd wake us up crying again. Problem seems to be she sleeps all day long and thinks night time is the time to stay awake. Haha, but we know it will work out with a matter of time. As for now, I'll keep the coffee pot running!

Awww, that newborn stuff is so...annoying, yes it's OK to think that. It's way better when they sleep thru the nite. But she is gorgeous, get your shotgun ready, Dad, you'll need it!!! Congrats again, get some crimson on that baby!!
