Get the free "Quitkeeper" program. It gives you some interesting stats to keep track of while you're quitting.

My wife keeps saying that "piece of cake" to me too. She's on day 500 or so...

After the 15th time she said it over the weekend, I threw some cake at her.

Lucky for me, she laughed at that.

Quitin is easy, its the stickin wth it thats hard.

Hell bro after 4 days yer over the nicotine deal, Ya need now to concentrate on WHY ya want to quit.

I have gone up to 6 months before and am feelin better , savin a ton of money,Not jut on the smokes but also yer Not pickin up other worthless carp when ya run into the store to grab a pack.

My downfall everytime is the breakin down and BUMMIN just one thats all im gonna smoke is JUST THIS ONE.

Right now due to m B/P and Sugar issues im workin on losin weight. After I get that under control Ima get back on the quitin deal

Like Doc said Download "Quit Keeper" You will be amazed at how fast the savings add up plus the added days to yer life and ****.
Good Luck Bro.

Like Doc said it does get easier the farther from yer quit date.
Plus Set up the quit keeper for yer wife. Go back to her start date and it will add up . Keep track of the money yall are saving then every year do something you both want to do with 1/2 of it and bank the rest.

What worked for me was developing a very strong hatred for the stinkin-assed things. When I'd see someone smoking I'd think "look at that dumbass." This was especially true when I'd see very young (teenagers) sucking on cigs like they think they're James Dean or Marilyn Monroe. When I smelled them I'd go "damn, did I stink like that too?" Sunflower seeds. Get some. Keep a mouth full all the time.

Good luck.

Good luck.FEAR OF CONSEQUENCES was what enabled me to quit. I had a pulmonary specialist MD friend told me if I was to quit soon, I could have a complete reversal of what looked like pre-emphysema cells in my chest x-ray. That was in 1986, and I gutted it out. I'm STILL super-scared of all the health problems tobacco can cause. The first 3 weeks are far and away the hardest. After that, if you maintain your fear and disgust of tobacco, you can stay away from it. I don't think about tobacco any more.

I think it is worse cuz you can still do it inside.

I quit dipping the same day I quit smoking. I also quit weed/coke/acid/ludes/reds/darvon/percodan/and all other opiates on that same day. Of all of them, giving up my Skoal/Redman/Day's Work was the hardest.

Good luck Ike. Many, many of my co-workers tried to quit as a New Year's Resolution and the only one who is still smoke-free is the one that relied more on patches than on the little support groups (led, of course, by someone who has never smoked but apparently has some degree in something).

I am happy to report that NP and I are still on our own New Year's Resolution to be healthier... unfortunately, being healthy is exhausting and not nearly as delicious as being unhealthy.

And, as sunny said, Smoking is for Whorns who love burnt orange!!!!

Repeat it every time you're tempted! :D

It's all about taking your mind off of it, and replacing the habit with another. If you can put a healthy habit in the place of smoking, then you're well on your way to being done with the cancerstick.

A lot more for a lot longer... Think about every cigarette is a small nicotine spike in the blood stream. Every dip is a prolonged giant peak in the nicotine in the blood.

She's probably going to outlive you whether you stay quit or not. If you go back to smoking she's likely to outlast you by a long while.

Everytime you think you have to smoke just imagine her on a beach in Mexico with some young stud buying him Dos Equis with the proceeds from your life insurance.

That should get you over the hump. ;)
