I don't think Charlie ever got over the fact we in the West, especially the US, used our surrogates and resources to beat the Russians in Afghanistan, then, as they left with their tail between their legs, we stopped investing in the place...which led to the evolution of the Taliban that eventually filled the power vacuum.

Yep, I admit it. US foreign policy, under Ronaldus Maximus (the Third Greatest US President), was flawed in that regard.
