For all the Deadliest Catch fans - Capt. Phil went to the big crab pot in the sky. Didn't make it through the stroke he had a few weeks ago. Not that we're surprised given his lifestyle, but he was a character and hard worker. Sad to see him go. The show will definitely miss him. Thoughts to his family, friends, and fans.

Not sure how many of you watched this show but he seemed like a good guy. Lived a rough lifestyle though and after having a massive stroke he passed away today despite making improvements lately

I saw the episode where he first got carted off to the hospital, but I haven't kept up since then. Sad news, like many of those guys he was an interesting dude.

Like they say in the navy, Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Guess the ole body can only take so much abuse. He was just 53.

I like all the captains on the show but especially Captain Phil, this is sad.

"Who gave you permission to talk?"

Captain Phil scolding his son.

Paying back the Northwestern prank by putting a length of pipe on one of their pot lines.

Good stuff from Captain Phil, RIP

Stay away from stress, coffee, red bull, poor diet, booze and lack of sleep.

It does heck with your body.

And RIP.

I do enjoy watching "The Deadliest Catch" series. Can't help but feel bad for his two boys. To watch your father struggle health-wise the past few years must have been awful for them. Especially considering he was only in his early 50's. But with the lifestyle he lead, you knew it was only a matter of time. He will be missed. RIP

hopefully Sig cleans himself up... he seems to be from the same mold as phil...

the other two are laid back (kinda) and less stressed out. i cant remember if they smoke but phila and sig ALWAYS have a cigarette burning.

Sig tried to quit once but the crew suffered. I think he lasted an hour.
