I now know by the banner hanging at my sons school that its "BLACK HISTORY MONTH" sounds great! When is Hispanic history month or Jewish history month or Italian history month,Greek, Irish Chinese women over 4 ft.............. won't we run out of months?

As well as educate others about different cultures or groups of people. We have all that stuff at work and I don't mind it at all, but I really don't think these programs have any impact on the self-esteem or attitudes of anyone.

I find this article to be very humorous and ironic. The PC police are trying to protect the victimized, yet the person responsible is...gasp...a minority.

Haggis, kidney pie, blackbird pie, mussels, blood sausage. . . . Dean, they even put mussels, haggis, and broccoli on pizza. Unless things have changed since I was there on vacation, it is mostly bloody bad grub. The only saving grace I could see was the growing presence of good Indian foods into the British Isles diet. Curry chicken and chips is now pretty much a staple food.

Funny, the same thing happened at my work place. Black staff brought food for a luncheon and it was these same food items. Except nobody made an issue of it. This PC stuff is really getting out of hand. Now even Sarah Palin has turned into a PC police woman.

"Hispanic Heritage Month" is a weird one. It starts on September 15. Oddly the same 9-15 to 10-15 is also " German Heritage Month"

Women get March, which they have to share with the aforementioned "Irish-American Heritage Month".

Native Americans get November as proclaimed by George Bush "Since Thanksgiving is in November".

Italian Americans get October. October is also "Polish American Heritage Month". Half Polock-half Dago Lesbians really get to party down in October since it's also "GLBT History Month". lol

"Asian Pacific American Heritage Month" is in May. Nice of all those Islands and an entire continent to share like that. Must be a Hindu-Buhdist nicety.

There are plenty more, but I just thought I'd point out that almost everyone gets to feel special for a month at some point in the year.

If November and Thanksgiving can be considered "WASP" month to be shared with Native Americans, then I think about every race and ethnic group is covered, so nobody's self-esteem has to suffer. Except for maybe the French and Middle Easterners. I mean, we have Czech festivals, St. Paddy's Day, Chinese New Year, Columbus Day, Greek festival, Oktoberfest, etc. etc., but I have never heard of a large scale French festival or a Middle Eastern celebration.

I know, those two groups are not the favorites of a lot of Americans right now, but can't we have a week with crepes, snails, and snitch out your Jewish neighbors to the Nazis activities? I happen to really like Middle Eastern food, especially the grilled meats and hummus, so bring it on!
