View Full Version : Alright fellas, 4-4. Where do we go from here?

We have to either win at colorado or at osu to get to 9-7, I dont see any way we win at kansas or at texas.

9-7 would be 18-12 with wins against 3 or 4 ranked teams, whatya think, still no for the tourney?

That would get us on the bubble for sure. Maybe if we won a game or two in the conference tournament? The tourney was so far out of my mind a couple weeks ago that I have no clue where we stand.

It still is, Im not sure if we can win out at home and get a win on the road but if we do...we might have a shot

No. We have too many miserable losses.

Just to play super Homer fan, if we end the year at 9-7 with wins against ranked tex, a&m, baylor, and kstate, that might allow them to overlook the earlier losses some

...yup, I say we go ahead and get to 5-4 and take it from there. ;)

Dude, just for engaging in a little coachspeak I get called a SOB?

What a meanie you are! :(

I won't name-call ya. I think it's genius. This team has already shown us that the only thing we can count on them for is inconsistency. Planning that far ahead with an inconsistent team is like seeing a girl at a party in a Girls Gone Wild hat, p*ss-drunk, making out with two chicks, and thinking to yourself, "Man, I could marry that woman."

We'll also end the year with double-digit losses to such powerhouse programs as the Toreros of San Diego, the Houston Cougars, VCU, and Baylor (yeah, I know, Baylor is good, but it was a 30 point loss). We'll also have a loss to Nebraska on our resume. These are horrible losses for a bubble team.

Your wins help you much more than your losses hurt you. Being a name program helps. Going 9-7 in this Big 12 would be a huge feather in our cap.

But, also [Jim Mora] We may not win another game! [/Jim Mora]

I'll be honest. I still think we are likely to come up short as far as the tourney goes...but today we beat Texas. THAT is a good day.

I'm no expert but I don't see us in the tourney unless we can get to 10-6, which I don't think is likely. I'm wrong a LOT though, so that helps.

Also, YES! to Rock Hard's post!!!

But where would 9-7 put us in the Big 12? 6th or 7th?

Considering how far Texas has fallen, it's pretty much Kansas and everyone else. When you have one elite team and a bunch of mediocre teams, that tells me the Big 12 will be lucky to get 5 teams in.

If we were to get to 9-7, that would mean we won a road game. Ha!

When you have 12 losses they sort of look at that...

At 9-7, I don't think the committee will be able to overlook the fact that our RPI will rank under 50 and that we lost to teams that are currently 8-16 and 10-11.

We could win the Big XII Tournament if it were in Norman.

Got to get Warren back and healthy. We will need him to win our final home games and possibly pick up a road game.

We have no quality wins away from the LNC. Our best win is tied to a sinking ship in Austin. Our RPI is No. 76. We have neutral-court losses to San Diego and Houston. This team is not going to the NCAAs, barring something like a 7-1 stretch run, wins against Kansas and Kansas State, a Big 12 Tournament title or tourney wins against Kansas or K-State.

And, this sucks, but, for the future, may be better. This team could conceivably make a nice NIT run, but would be incredibly hard pressed to win an NCAA game.

JK is right. This season actually ran a ground in Alaska. Flip those games and we probably are on the inside track if we squeezed out a 9-7 in conference.

The Texas game allowed me to relax a little this season. Capel's got things under control and all this "learning" will pay off in 2011 and 2012. This team doesn't lack heart, they lack experience. I am going to root for them the rest of this year with that mindset.

I'm sure the Big 12 would be thrilled to have its official tournament representative come in as a No. 16 seed.

Nah. No lower than 13 as the conference tourney winner.

Even Georgia wasn't a 16 seed.

Anyway, in the NIT we could host games in Norman, right?

Yep, though I don't know we'd be seeded highly enough to get three home games.

I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek with the 16-seed talk. Still, I think there is much more long-term benefit for this team in getting 2-3 games in the NIT than a 25-point blowout loss in the first round of the Dance.

That's the only way this team will make it. We will be lucky to make the NIT.
