NORMAN -- The University of Oklahoma athletics department will welcome back reigning consensus men's basketball national player of the year Blake Griffin to Lloyd Noble Center on Tuesday, Feb. 9, when the Sooners host Texas Tech at 7 p.m. CT.

"Blake Griffin Night," presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors, will mark Griffin's first appearance at Lloyd Noble Center since OU beat Oklahoma State in last year's regular season finale.

The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a free special edition Griffin poster courtesy of Academy Sports and Outdoors. The first 2,000 fans will receive a scratch card, 100 of which will include Griffin's logo. The 100 fans receiving cards with the logo will be admitted, with one guest, to a private, postgame VIP meet-and-greet with Griffin.

Each fan at the meet-and-greet will receive a photo with Griffin, one of Griffin's new "WORK" New Era limited edition caps and an autograph. Griffin's New Era 59Fifty cap is completely red with tonal 3D embroidery of the word "WORK" across the front panels and includes Griffin's "BG" initials in white on the back of the cap. The underbrim features embroidery of the phrase "Success is when talent meets hard work." The cap is available now at www.lockerblogger.com.

All other 1,900 fans with a scratch card will receive a discount coupon from Academy Sports and Outdoors.

At halftime, Griffin will be presented with the NCAA Sportsmanship Award by John Blanchard, NCAA Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Committee chair. Also at halftime, one fan will be randomly selected for a half court shot for $10,000, with Griffin serving as honorary shot coach.

Griffin won every major national player of the year award last year after leading Oklahoma to a 30-6 overall record and to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. He averaged 22.7 points and a nation-leading 14.4 rebounds per game while shooting a Big 12 record .590 from the field. His 30 double-doubles were one shy of the NCAA single-season record. Griffin was selected No. 1 overall in June's NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Tickets for Tuesday's game are available online at SoonerSports.com and at the OU Athletics Ticket Office (800-456-4668).

Blake really doesn't like to raise his voice, does he?

And Blake definitely deserves the sportsmanship award after all the abuse he took last year without even trying to get revenge in a non-basketball way.

Not sure I liked the concept of WORK being written really huge on a hat, but New Era made it look cool:

Geez. Lose the stupid gangsta flat brim and I'm good with it. Seriously, does anyone besides 17 year old wiggers wear those things anymore?

Let the guy have his fun Dean. He's got a pocket full of dough and he's gonna make a few bad choices along the way...at least they aren't really bad choices. You are right though...he might ought to try to be a bit more of an original if anything.
