Formulaic structure is ok, because formulas work. The problem with American media, as Cruc was alluding to, is that they don't report news, they report "sh*t they want you to know, not sh*t they don't want you to know" and call that "news".

One of the problems with the American media is that they only report what gets ratings. That means we get very little international news unless it directly affects us - terrorism, etc.

Listen to BBC sometime and you'll get a 10 minute stretch talking about Uganda or Nigeria or something.....
