I always get a bit of a chuckle when fans say stuff like a HS player turned us down.
There are folks who seek to be great and folks who feel their path to greatest might not be playing for one of the best Football Schools in the Nation. If they go elsewhere...so be it. I'll take a kid who dreams to be a Sooner over a kid on the fence.

I get a text from twitter every time soonersports updates a signee.
I hope we get a surprise today! I think this WR class is going to be stellar as is! We need a elite road grater and a iron leg for a kicker. I still do not know why they have not let Kenny try kicking he was a All-American as a punter and kicker in the juco ranks!

I saw that video on Colvin too....possible PR down the road maybe??? The video didn't show much about his Man Coverage ability though....He did read the QB well and had good closing speed to get to the ball and make a play
Waiting LOIs from Powell, Clay, Finch, Haynes and maybe Nelson.
And, of course, Stills once the NCAA clears him.
Like previously posted, up-to-minute signing list here at SS.com (http://www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/archive/2010_signing_day.html)
Word outta Tulsa is that OSU has lost a few that they thought they had up through yesterday, including Thomas Roberson (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/article.aspx?subjectid=369&articleid=20100202_93_0_Unionw201136) (to Tulsa) and Calvin Bennett (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/article.aspx?subjectid=369&articleid=20100203_93_0_Asourc71811) (to Arky), so my guess is OP.com is in full meltdown mode.
Anyway, if you're interested in how our little sister school is doing, their official signing page is here. (http://www.okstate.com/ot/nsd2010.html)
The school that seems to be stealing both OU and OSU's recruits, Arky, does not have a up-to-date signing page. Must be an SEC thing???

To be fair, Robinson was a Tulsa commit since his junior year (I believe)...at least for some time.
He changed his mind a few days ago when OSU offered him...he said he got caught up in the name of a bigger school coming after him...that sort of stuff.
He had a day or two to re-thing things and said he felt better about Tulsa, so he switched back.

There are a lot of anti-Nelson threads over at texags right now. They meltdown more than OP and in more funny, epic proportions.
Losing :rcmad: was really a program killer for them, and ensured that OU would never lose to them again so long as the football gods were angry... and they are obviously still livid if they can't pull it off in minor bowl mania :D
We really need to beat Texas so we can get more of the five-stars in the next few classes. That's one thing aggie has over us recently.

I am really excited about this class! Could you imagine this OL for the next 4 years:
LT: Thompson
LG: Irwin
C: Woods
RG: Shead
RT: Williams
Throw in Haywood at TE and Millard at FB, along with those 2 backs, and the 5 WRs, there's a reason Blake Bell was the first to fax in his LOI. Throw in that he won't have to face off against Grissom; he's probably the happiest guy in the State of Kansas right now.
The Aggie meltdown is hilarious muwahahaha! I know we would be mad if a kid dropped on signing day but I highly doubt we would go bat **** crazy like they are.

Signed with Utah.
12:52 ET today:
http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/18899/utah-loses-one-waiting-on-two
Utah has lost the commitment of Calvin Coolidge High (Washington D.C.) athlete Avery Williams, who has signed a national letter of intent with West Virginia, ESPN affiliate Web site EerSports.com is reporting.
Williams, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound three-star recruit, played several positions this past season, including running back and wide receiver. He was the eighth three-star commitment for the Utes, but had been a West Virginia lean earlier in the fall.
While this is a blow to the Utes, good news might be on the way. Utah is waiting to hear from Fullerton College offensive tackle John Cullen, who announced that he would not sign with USC and instead would pick between the Utes and Oklahoma.
Utah is also awaiting word from Brighton High (Utah) defensive tackle Ricky Heimuli, who is choosing between the Utes, UCLA, Oregon and Washington.
Do we have a scholly available for this John Cullen?
Also, for those of you holding out for Cobbs, he is with UT. He had his little ceremony up here and everything.

I read little ceremony and laughed. Some kids just want to get out of state, I understand that, but I look forward to Franklin or Nelson lighting him up in the RRS

I think that's why Kansas recruits came to OU, even with legendary Snyder and rising Buff dude at KSU and KU, respectively. I think that's why top recruits from the Tulsa area chose to leave state. They're teens. They want to see what life outside Oklahoma has to offer.
It's also probably why Nelson and other Texas state recruits come to OU, LSU, Florida, etc etc. I know it will pizz native texans (especially those that are fans of A&M and UT) off a little to see a five-star cross the border, especially to a Big 12 rival, but it's a teen you're talking about.
You will be on Special Teams your fish year, and when you come to Kyle Field you will get ear holed by one Aggie and the other takes your legs out from under you. As you lay down on the Kyle Field turf staring at the sky, think about your future and hope Big Red Imports will still employ you to do nothing the rest of your life now that your playing career is over.

Nelson has screwed himself. At A&M he could have become a diamond. At blowU, he will just be another rock on a gravel road. He probably will be scout squad material until his Jr year. "
Glad to see they believe in the quality of players they have in regards to talent and competition. go to aggieland and start or go to OU, learn, develop and know what it is to compete and earn your job....
Nothing against most Ag fans. However, if it were solely about playing time, why wouldn't players go to UNT or UTEP or SMU? All are Div. 1 schools (in the state of texas!!!!!!!!) and would provide immediate opportunities for playing time.
Why, then, do recruits not choose to go to smaller schools where they can play immediately and play often (hell, they could probably stay on the field 100 percent of the time at some of those minor Div. 1 programs!), and instead opt for programs that play for conference and national championships virtually every year?
Why, oh why? :D

Javon Harris might be a RB, not sure yet. Jonathon Miller still not recovered and Harris interested in RB are the reasons for the possible change

Two gems: The guy who bags on us as "Camal" smokers. Nice slam. I feel really put down by someone who can't spell Camel.
The next was the AgTrucker or something of that nature who, among other endearments, referred to us as "meth-heads". I wonder what he thinks the stereotype of truckers is?
In any event, good value for the entertainment dollar! Thanks for the linkie.

About 20 some years ago(last few years of Swittzer regime) I got all got up in Recruiting and sweating over HS players. Then came the Gibbs years where Gibbs would continually get high ranked classes and we accomplished nothing.I further drifted away from serious attention to recruiting during the remainder of the LOST DECADE/
Bob Stoops bringing OU back to the top with a bunch of AVERAGE recruits and walk-ons cemented my conviction that recruiting, especially ranking-wise is over-rated.Bob has had higher ranking classes since but no NC.My conclusion: OU may not get the top ranked players or classes but with OUr coaching we will still compete for conference and national prominence.I am happy about the recruits we have signed but I will be the first to say I have NO IDEA who will be the studs and who will be the duds.I trust Bob and staff to take care of that stuff.

That's our annual Grain o' Salt comment.
Nelson became interested after bowl game so they went after him and he told coach BV that he would commit lastnite
The bowl was heartbreaking (all the injuries) and heartwarming (the players sticking together despite extreme adversity) and the way the coaches ended the last drive with clock management was clever (and admit it, you guys were all yelling :les:WTF![hairGel] at the screen because you thought time would be left).
I wonder how much the bowl victory played into our recruiting this year?
