They should remember stuff like this when they cry about getting screwed by the BCS.

It's just like LSU playing all the minor schools within its own state. Basically it's UT subsidizing other athletic programs with big checks for guaranteed wins, except the money stays in-state.

At least our in-state non-BCS school has a decent program. UTEP? Ummmm... I guess they're OK????????

EDIT: UTEP had four wins last year. Ok, they suck. There, I said it.

EDIT 2: So, Tulsa had four wins too... I quit. G'nite!

UTEP has been bowling lately and beat Houston last year, didn't they?

they aren't awful since Mr. Bama Lapdance took over

UTEP went to 2 straight bowl games a few years ago (04 and 05) in Mike "I heart strippers" Price's first 2 years, but mostly they suck. Tulsa is a private school with the smallest undergrad enrollment in the FBS and they still managed 5 wins last year after having 11, 10, 8, and 9 in the previous 4 years, including a win in the first ever Conference USA Championship Game in 2005 and the largest margin of victory ever in a bowl game over Bowling Green after the 2007 season (56 points).

'Horns also announced that they're playing BYU in '11:

Their fans are already complaining about the BYU game! They're screaming, "Why are we doing this?.... What does it gain us?" "This is a no win situation for us", .... Damn whiners!

To be fair though, I do remember some of us saying the same thing about us scheduling the same game down in Dallas.

if you can't beat BYU, you have problems anyway :O

They at least get the advantage of playing BYU in Austin.

i give Jerry World a big MEH

i'll watch OU play anywhere, but that might have been my least favorite venue so far

if i wanted to watch a game on TV, i'd stay at home

The "Deathstar" may be ok for pro games, but for college games it sucks. Acoustics are horrible so the band noise can't be heard too well and it's such a sterile atmosphere.. you dont really have access to the entire stadium.

Thankfully, the "shiny new toy" factor will be long gone by the time the contract with the Cotton Bowl expires in 2015 so the Texas - Ou game can stay right where it belongs.

It's weird to the extent playing in Norman morphs our team into extrordinary. Had we played BYU in Norman I'll bet worst case scenario (what happened to Sam), Landry lights up the Cougars for 7 TDs and 1200 yards (ok, maybe a slight exaggeration)...

Know for sure that if this game is 100 years from now, some whorn doosh will make his way to his local Sooners and brag in the event of a victory.

Lid I hope your right. The game doesnt need to go anywhere. The Cotton Bowl is just where it belongs. It just wouldnt be right and I think would not only totally change the extraordinary atmosphere it has now but the whole rivalry in general.

Not for nothing but the UT OOC schedules aren't that bad going forward:

2010: UCLA
2011: UCLA and BYU
2012: Ole Miss
2013: Ole Miss
2014: Nothing yet
2015: Cal and Minnesota
2016: Cal and Minnesota

I'm really looking forward to OUr road trips to Tallahassee, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, South Bend, etc. Don't hornheads want to see their team butt heads with the big boys? I enjoyed their series with the Buckeyes. Maybe Muschamp will change that.

Yeah, middle of the road. We typically go for one pretty good game a year. 05 and 06 it was tOSU (obviously the best team we played), 07 it was TCU, 08 was arkie. The years before that we played arkie, UCLA and UNC.

Last year's OOC schedule was beyond terrible but keep in mind both arkie and Utah backed out on us.

2011 won't be easy with hosting BYU and playing at UCLA the next week.
