If we're going to be accurate, it's Joni Mitchell, not Joanie. And in looking on Wikipedia, I'm finding Sarah McLachlan, Nelly Furtado, kd lang, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Michael Buble, Leonard Cohen and Gordon Lightfoot, plus a whole bunch I've either never heard or don't give a **** aboot.

I know, I cheated. But lots of days I'd need Wikipedia to remember my own name, and I've been feverish today, so hey, whatever gets you through the night.

Yeah...The Band really throws people off...but I'm fairly certain the original members were all Canuks.

Much love for The Sadies. Country-garage-rock blend. Just ridiculous musicians. Check 'em out if you like that kind of stuff.

In the original incarnation, all but Levon Helm (Arkansas) were Canadian.

People who go out of their way to bash Rush just for the sake of doing it while simultaneously ignoring the topic of the thread are dooshes.

And another addition to the real list should be Voivod.

There's also Anvil, Kataklysm, and all Devin Townsend's bands.

Other great Canadian artists in addition to ones already mentioned:

The New Pornographers
Do Make Say Think
Broken Social Scene
Arcade Fire
Leslie Feist
Neil Young

All of whom are offset by Nickelback, unfortunately.

Arcade Fire is good. Not great. They're held back by their lead singers who, I'm afraid, aren't very good at singing.

Just MHO, though.

What is it about canuck music? All of those folks do music that is kinda....fringy? Except maybe Paul Anka and Shania Twain.

And I hate Obama, but not cause he's black. I hate him cause he's half white.

NAME THE SONG!

Be on my side,
I'll be on your side,
baby
There is no reason
for you to hide
It's so hard for me
staying here all alone
When you could be
taking me for a ride.
