So, the Jags are gonna take Tebow so that they can sell tickets huh?

Tebow looked horrible today in 7 on 7 drills, under center fumbled 3 snaps in a row and looks terrible dropping back..

Terrence Cody showed up looking like he ate Andre Smith....370 lbs

The star of the 1st day...Boise St Kyle Wilson

a diddy on Chris Brown

Spent most of the day as a receiver out of the backfield more so than running the football. This catered to his apparent strengths as Brown was a natural checkdown option for whatever quarterback was under center.

Interesting. I appreciate the info....however the Vikings could do without Travaris :D (well maybe not, with Favre wobbling once again, Childress may decide to put his old main man Travaris back in if Favre retires)

He had four spring, summers and fall camps healthy to learn how to be a real quarterback. I say congrats to him for what he did in college, but I never thought he was some force to be reckoned with.

That's why I like Wilson and Heupel running our offense. We don't go fagging it up just because a guy has a bad day at the office. They train OUr QBs in professional-style sets. Sam, Landry and even PT are lightyears ahead of Tebow in the mechanics department.

I just watched the complete one hour show/practice that the NFL Network aired. I thought the coverage was good on what drills they showed on the field, but it so incomplete and really edited. I wanted to see the whole practice and no interviews from people not involved with the NFL or College football that I've never heard of give their opinions. They showed about 15 minutes of drills with the rest of the time dominated by commercials and meaningless bs. Does anyone no how to complain to the NFL Network?

He couldn barely get down into a stance..and he put on 15 lbs since the NC game

That's really sad. He's sorely mistaken if he thinks this is going to be like the college game. The NFL is a business and the guys he's going up against are in tremendous shape. They see working out as part of the way to keep their job, which in turn keeps their family fed. In college, guys were a push-over to him, but that won't be the case at the next level.

Also, Tim Tebow as a quarter back at the next level just won't happen. He has horrible mechanics. Tim's game is running the ball and operating an offense that's built around him. A lot of these kids are going to be surprised how different the NFL is. That's not to say that Tim couldn't be a solid Tight-end, linebacker or do well at the fullback position in time. I know he's heard it a thousand times, but not without cause. He was a great college QB, but those days have come and gone.

Sean Witherspoon from Mizzou has been practicing hard as lot of NFLers have varying views about how good he actually is...So far, seems to be around the ball a lot

Denario Alexander from Mizzou, the 6-4 221 lb WR, hasn't impressed scouts since his height and weight were measured...slow off hte LoS and doesn't use his body like he should...doesnt look like a guy who just had a 100 reception season

Marty Gilyard(who we are familiar with) is showing burst off the LoS but is skillet handing balls again today...with his size, he has got to show he can catch the ball

here is the info on Jackson I posted collier

It’s obvious watching Oklahoma cornerback Brian Jackson live that he simply doesn’t have the type of quick-twitch ability to close on the football in off-coverage. He’s a tall, long-armed kid who’s at his best when he’s able to get his hands on receivers, and he once again was consistently able to win his one-on-one matchups whenever he was asked to press off the line. He showcases good physicality and really knows how to reroute receivers. Jackson might not be the most efficient corner in space, but there is a place for him in the NFL because of his bump-and-run ability

Hey STEP, I am pretty certain I know the answer but here is the question

Based on the early issues Tebow is having with drop backs and handling the snaps, poor technique, etc... I hear scouts saying late round talent, so the fact that he is being projected late 1st-2nd round is simply because of the name Tim Tebow?

Do you think teams will eventually chicken out, right so, or do you think he will be drafted high based on that name?

I don't know how he is looking comfortable catching passes with a tweeked hammy...He looks lean but he needs about 15-20 more lbs....

Mays looks more like a WLB candidate every day...

Syd'Quan Thompson from a Cal, a corner we had talked about some on this board when discussing smallish type corners(Hurst) is losing money by the day..He provides little resistance on the LoS and even though can close on a WR, has some bad footwork....

Dan LeFevour, who I personally was cheering for, has struggled from day one..Him and Tebow both look very indecisive in the pocket

Dan's another victim of the 95+% shotgun offensive system.

How many future or past HOF'ers are built like underwear models? None. Work on your mechanics and head to be a qb, the rest will come along.

The South Squad, being coached by the Dolphins staff, had Dexter McCluster from Ole Miss run some plays from the wildcat...this guy can do a little bit of everything...

I have really been suprised with Jarrett Brown from West Virginia..probably the strongest arm of any QB at the Senior Bowl

I really like Anthony Dixon from Miss State as well..6' 245 lb RB has some deceptive wheels..

Javier Arenas
Myron Rolle
George Selvie
Ben Tate

What small school guys have earned themselves a draft spot that you can think of?

stoops the eternal pimp
1/28/2010, 01:36 PM
Bell from Wayne State, runningback
Roberts the WR from the Citadel
Alex Carrington from Arkansas State..I know not necessarily a small school

Myron Rolle looked a little rusty at first but has picked it up as the week went along...i would say 3rd round, possibly 4

Arenas...interesting...the shortest CB there but the heaviest...has looked better than Perrish Cox and the other DBs....He obviously struggles against taller wideouts(Riley Cooper for one) but can play the man press..one guy puts it that he has "little man syndrome"

George Selvie has been,IMO, one the most overrated players I've seen..245 lbs, not strong enough to be a DE...

Ben Tate has been running pretty well and has been one of the better pass blocking RB's this week...The Texans have shown an interest in him

Zac Robinson> Tim Tebow

Couple of quotes A scout sent today on Tebow

Tebow has about the slowest release of any big-time prospect that has come along
and

his low release point that will make it easier for NFL pass rushers to strip the ball and defensive backs to close

stoops the eternal pimp

From another scout

Tim Tebow had the worst practice that I have seen with my own two eyes this week. He was horrible. In skeletons, he really struggled with his decision-making and accuracy. The running back ran a basic circle route literally five yards in front, but Tebow actually skipped the ball on the ground and it ended up at John Conner's ankles. This was the worst pass I've ever seen by a college quarterback in my life. Nobody can say Tebow had a good week during practice - just impossible.

This is exactly what it was like, a toddler girl throwing a shot put. He looked so damn odd on his pullback and release it looked really terrible. Just really slow and drawn out form/mechanics, exactly what the NFL people say they're concerned with from what I've seen on tv and read. I still say an NFL team would be crazy to draft him as a QB. Tebow And The CFL: A Match Made In Inevitable, Inevitable Heaven

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/11/2010/01/500x_teblow2.jpg

I'm not saying Tebow's negotiations with the Montreal Alouettes are evidence he will wash out of the draft, then head north to play football. I'm just saying the CFL pays better than the UFL.

Marc Trestman has been a QB coach for eight different NFL teams, so it's no surprise that Tebow has been working with him in advance of the NFL draft. But Trestman currently happens to be the head coach of the CFL's Montreal Alouettes.

As a consequence of their association, the Alouettes' have added Tebow to their "confidential negotiation list," meaning that should he ever join the CFL, they have an exclusive option on his rights.

Now, while this is standard operating procedure, it's fun to speculate on Tebow's future, and extra fun when that future involves flunking out of America altogether. But when you look at it, Montreal would be a perfect fit for him.

First off, they're French-Canadian (read: Catholic) so they're all about that pro-life business. Second, they're reigning Grey Cup champions, and we all know Tebow's at his best when put on an already-successful franchise that runs a shotgun formation against an inferior level of competition. Remove any of those things, and he's powerless. This needs to happen.
