It's like the en of quarters. In the regular season, when the clock runs out in OT it's a tie.

If Hartley has to kick and misses, I don't think we will see much of him in New Orleans next year.

I knew that about the regular season, but since it's sudden death, I didn't know why in playoffs.
I guess it makes sense to switch sides, etc.

Never had a game where I kept going back and forth on who I wanted to win because of the Sooners on both teams. When Hartley walked out to make the kick, I really wanted him to make it after hearing them say Oklahoma and remembering how many kicks he made for us. A Sooner, Garrett Hartley, won the game for the Saints and put them in the Super Bowl. Really happy for Hartley.
Sure wish we had him last year in the National Championship instead of having his red shirt pulled late in the season. Miss him kicking because I knew it was going through -- now I want to hide my eyes when a kicker tries to kick it for a field goal.

There is one of those prototypical Favre f*ck ups
With their clock and game management at the end of regulation, Childress and Favre made Brown and McCoy look like geniuses by comparison. First and 10 at N.O. 33 yd-line - already within the outside edge of Longwell's range. 1:06 left. Clock stopped. N.O. out of time outs. Minn. has 2 TO's.
Priorities, in order: (1) don't lose the ball, (2) don't lose yards, (3)gain yards if possible, (4) use up the rest of the time and kick the FG.
Two running plays get zero yards and use up 47 of the 66 seconds. 19 seconds left. Timeout Minn., followed by mass confusion and a substitution penalty - AFTER A TIMEOUT! Now out of FG range, and needing to gain 5 or more yards, with only one down left to do it. Rollout right, Favre looks like he can easily run for enough to get back into FG range. Instead, he throws late back across the field into double-coverage. Interception. Game, season, and hopefully, career.

The solace I find in the Vikes loss comes not only with Hartley's heroic kick, but also with recognition that Les Miles is an idiot and Sean Payton is not.
