when will we give him a nickname?

Chrissy2 ? they have the same build, and a strong inaccurate arm... I'm sure Gilbert is a lot cooler than Chrissy tho. ... :D

thoughts? or still too premature?

we've got to wait a while until we give him nickname. Kind of like how we did for vince dung or fumbles mcscrambles or sidearm mcwonderlic. Those were some impressive names.

Just wait until he EPICALLY fails at some given moment, then we'll give him a nickname

:D

There was an espn classic game from 1982 on earlier tonight and the Cal QB was someone named blank "Gilbert". I'm trying to google to see if it was Garrett Gilbert's dad.

Here it is, found it. Garrett's dad's name is Gale. He was the QB in the famous game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gale_Gilbert

Gale Reed Gilbert (born December 20, 1961 in Red Bluff, California) is a former American football quarterback who played eight seasons in the NFL for the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, and the San Diego Chargers.
Gilbert is the only player in NFL history to be a member of five straight Super Bowl teams. Gilbert was a member of the Bills who played in four straight Super Bowls (XXV through XXVIII) and of the Chargers who played in Super Bowl XXIX. Gilbert was on the losing team in all five Super Bowl games.
In the famous game featuring "The Play" between the University of California Golden Bears and the Stanford University Cardinal, Gale Gilbert was a sophomore and the starting quarterback for the University of California. As a youth, Gilbert played catcher for Red Bluff Little League in the 1974 Little League World Series and lost in the final game to Taiwan 12-1.
His son, Garrett Gilbert, is currently a quarterback at the University of Texas.

Gabe? No, I think that was an angel.

Depending on who Texas can come up with as receivers, he may be pretty good. After he got thrown in to the NC game unexpectedly, I though he did pretty credibly after he somewhat got control of the situation 2nd half. I thought he did pretty well, considering. Don't know if he has legs like Colt, though.

Texas fans seem pretty high on his & his future at Texas as starting QB.

Why are we making fun of Gilbert? He may turn out to be a great guy. For all we know, he will become a great leader of his team, willing his team to victory by making passionate halftime speeches and shedding tears after losses. Then he might even perform missionary work, healing the sick and doing God's work.

Agreed. He's a big, strong kid. He'll do better at Texas than Chris Simms. But, I'd take a miracle for him to out-do McCoy.

He'll win alot of games for the 'Horns in the next few years. This is no Mock. This kid's a legitimate player.

Jesus in shoulder pads played for Florida.

Allegedly is the key word, i think the jury is still out on if Jesus is fast enough to play in the SEC. Usain Bolt would be the 15th fastest player at Vanderbilt.
