Found this and thought I would share.......

I hear a lot of liberals whinning about this being teddy's old seat - I thought a poetic reminder of the man was in order:

The Last of The Kennedy Dynasty

As soon as his cancer was detected, I noticed the immediate
attempt at the "canonization" of old Teddy Kennedy by the
mainstream media. They are saying what a "great American"
he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear & not twist
the facts to change the real history.

1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He
was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once
for paying a classmate to cheat for him.

2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but
mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. Oops!
The man can't count to four! His father, Joseph P. Kennedy,
former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up from
bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during
prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his
enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he
served in Europe, not Korea , where a war was raging. No
preferential treatment for him! (like he charged that
President Bush received).

3. Kennedy was assigned to Paris , never advanced beyond the
rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being
discharged. Imagine a person of his "education" NEVER
advancing past the rank of Private!

4. While attending law school at the University of Virginia
, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including
once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a
residential neighborhood with his headlights off after
dark.. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked.
Coincidentally, he passed the bar exam in 1959. Amazing!

5. In 1964, he was seriously injured in a plane crash and
hospitalized for several months. Test results done by the
hospital at the time he was admitted had shown he was
legally intoxicated. The results of those tests remained a
"state secret" until in the 1980's when the report was
unsealed. Didn't hear about that from the unbiased media,
did we?

6. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on
Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts . At about 11:00 PM,
he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile
limousine and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo
Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an
unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car
off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond.

7. He swam to shore and walked back to the party passing
several houses and a fire station. Two friends then
returned with him to the scene of the accident. According
to their later testimony, they told him what he already
knew - that he was required by law to immediately report the
accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way
to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep.
Kennedy called the police the next morning and by then the
wreck had already been discovered. Before dying Kopechne
had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in
the upside-down car. The Kennedy family began "calling in
favors", ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her
corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family before an
autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain,
but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove
under the water trying to rescue Kopechne and he didn't call
police because he was in a state of shock. It is widely
assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he held off calling police
in hopes that his family could fix the problem overnight.
Since the accident Kennedy's "political enemies" have
referred to him as the distinguished Senator from
Chappaquiddick. He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of
an accident, and was given a SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO
MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small payout from the
Kennedy's insurance policy and never sued. There was later
an effort to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her
family successfully fought against this in court, and
Kennedy's family paid their attorney's bills.... a "token of
friendship"?

8. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty
years, but considering his longevity, his accomplishments
seem scant. He authored or argued for legislation that
ensured a variety of civil rights, increased the minimum
wage in 1981, made access to health care easier for the
indigent, funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors,
and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism".
In his very first Senate roll he was the floor manager for
the bill that turned U.S. immigration policy upside down and
opened the floodgate for immigrants from third world
countries..

9. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and
author of every expansion of an increase in immigration up
to and including the latest attempt to grant amnesty to
illegal aliens. Not to mention the pious grilling he gave
the last two Supreme Court nominees, as if he was the
standard bearer for the nation in matters of "what is right"
What a pompous @#$%&!!

10. He is known around Washington as a public drunk, loud,
boisterous, and very disrespectful to ladies. JERK is a
better description than "great American". "A blonde in
every pond" is his motto.

Let's not allow the spin doctors to make this jerk a hero --
how quickly the American public forgets what his real
legacy is - a piece of -----!

heh! :D

While largely true and factual, that's kinda classless IMO. They did the same kinda rosy coverage of Nixon when he died and never mentioned anything negative about Reagan or many others. I feel like everyone deserves a year or so of "hands off" coverage. There is plenty of time in eternity to argue the up/down of politicians once their corpses have transitioned into jelly and earthworms, no reason to do it within a year.

Cru

He was a joke while he lived but so far he hasn't done anything wrong since he died, he has finally improved his character. That's not a joke it is fact.

I think the misspelling of "whiny" is what makes it poetic.

LMAO...Don't get me wrong, I was never a fan of the cartoonish morals and character of the man. I'm just saying exactly what you did...Everyone knows what he was like so there's no reason to counter the silly press.

I heard Teddy was a cheapskate too, who made everybody else pick up the tab.

Oh yeah... I wish the "Kennedy Dynasty" had ended sooner. (Not wishing people to die, just to lose power.)

Heh. And you leftistas will be on it like stink on ****. Spare me the mock indignation. Public personnas who do **** in their lives that put them out on the fringe are fair game. In life, and in death. That's why it's OK to pummel Teddy cause he was a cancerous scumball. And that's why it's not OK to pummel - say - Chelsea Clinton cause her only sin was being the child of two massive pieces of dog****. See the difference?

I don't get why people are making fun of poor Ted Kennedy. I mean the guy helped with the stimulus package. He was a real shovel ready project.

Sick. As in a few weeks ago when he went into the hospital with a heart issue and before anyone had even commented we were all told to be classy about it.

I avoid the mental gymnastics of justifying my behavior toward the sick and dying by keeping quiet regarding my feelings toward the sick and dying. So far, I'm 100% in the not looking like a fool category on that one, which might be the only one.

Right there with you. There's plenty of pain and sickness in the world, I don't feel the need to add to it.

In a very real sense, Ms. Kopechne performed a great act of sacrifice for her country. But for the fact Ted swam away and let her die that night, he may have attained the presidency.

Me? I say pi$$ on him and all "limousine liberals."* And if you look up the word "narcissist" in the dictionary, there should be a photo of Teddy next to the definition.

*limousine liberal (n): A very wealthy person who talks a good game about helping the poor but in reality, won't get his/her hands dirty and/or make a substantial personal sacrifice for their betterment. E.g. Oprah, the entire Kennedy family, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, most of the Hollywood glitterati.

I have a feeling both sides will be doing plenty of pissing over the next few months. The right shouldn't gloat about the senate when the Dems have a 19 seat majority. The Dems should watch their asses too.

Everyone currently in office and up for election in November on both sides should be scared.

I would say the loss of Kennedy's seat to the Rs shows anybody is vulnerable...but Coakley had no campaigning skills whatsoever. The Ds should have found another Kennedy to run - there are certainly plenty of those.

they may be pissing, but nothing like the trail of tears from the republicans..."what are we doing wrong", "why can't we win?", "what's wrong with our party?". whaaaa.

Hell, the democrats lost the filibuster-proof majority, they still control everything and the republicans act like they've won something. it's quite comical.

actually, we should all be scared. in the end either the democrats regain their majority, or the republicans take back over...both losing propositions that are horrible for our country...

Good point overall, but I'd like to see some financial and Wall Street reforms happen before November. The Republicans are dead set against doing anything at all. After that gets done I hope it ends up dead even so neither one can act stupid anymore.

^ This attitude right there, that is the reason this country is so f*cked up right now and nothing that is any good can be done. Because it has become Repub> than Dem, Dem> Repub, this was a Dems idea so f*ck it, this was a Repubs idea so f*ck it...it is pathetic.

Crucifax Autumn

You know I'm a centrist (which either means socialist or nazi, depending on which extreme these other guys are on) and I also don't think one seat and one special election means much, no matter where it occurred. It's a pretty shocking result for that state, but it's not unheard of as they've elected Republicans in the past, including a recent presidential candidate Mormon governor...That's absolutely unreal for "godless New England liberals".

My point is it's a lot of news cycles until the election and there is a lot that could happen, good and bad, to affect those races. Anyone hanging up their beliefs OR hanging their hat on this election is an idiot. None of these guys should compromise their positions as that would make them look weak. Nor should any challengers assume they will win on the coattails of public outrage. Nor should anyone assume they will win "because that party always wins there".

Bush had 9/11 to solidify his positions at this point in his presidency and the first congressional elections reflected this. Clinton on the other hand was in **** poor shape after one year, but he rose above it, even through a lot of defeats and ended up re-elected.

Reagan had horrible approval ratings at this point, despite having great ratings shortly after getting into office and phenomenal ratings by the time he was up for re-election. He was helped A LOT by Mondale-Ferrarro, but the fact remains that he won a landslide in 2004.

By 1988 GHW Bush had absolutely no chance at all to win...He was down a TON early in 1988 to Dukakis. Willie Horton and a tank ride later and Bush was sitting pretty despite having his *** beat in the debates. Remember the SNL bit where Dukakis said "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy?" That was around the same time Bentsen laid a debate winning one-liner on Quail, who EVERYONE at the time thought was a buffoon. It didn't matter thanks to 2 well publicized Dukakis blunders. TWO. That's all it took.

Dole had it wrapped up and free to take in 1996, but Clinton, a guy who'd come from the bottom of the heap in 1992 even to just win the nomination of his party, took advantage of a 3rd party candidate bleeding votes again and Bob Dole's weird way of talking in the 3rd person combined with a bit of sympathy in backlash from the Clinton bashers, to win it again.

In 2000 Bush didn't have a beginning of a chance to win it. But then he played front poch guy while Gore was an idiot and refused to let Clinto campaign while simultaneously trying to go the high road during silliness like the misrepresented and exaggerated internet thing when he should have met all those accusations head on and with FIRE and he just watched his lead erode...and erode...and vanish. The Florida thing never would have happened if not for a couple of minor miscalculations and a weak spine confronting attacks.

Kerry had Bush beat in 2004, but he was a moron who didn't see the Nam backlash coming. He could have averted the whole Swiftboat thing with some minor little tweaks and a quicker response to the backlash, but he didn't and he got his *** beat.

The point of all this is, of course, than minor little news events and tiny strategy mishaps can really change the landscape in a hurry, regardless of what's going on in the us vs. them political party bullcrap.

I really don't see why aside from some party snickering...Bad as his morals may have been, it's not that odd for "the replacement and annonted successor" to fail miserably.

They better not party too long or they will find that their celebration was premature. Wouldn't be the first time one of the major partie started sucking each other off too soon.
