OU did their thing at the Sun Bowl and ratings were up 50% and the game was at 12

Damn good game. Very satisfying... except for Adrian's injury.

Texas Bowl +2,000%?

That would mean it had a .1 rating last year. 1/4 of the Insight Bowl's rating this year, which is on the NFL network. What channel was that on last year, the Fox Soccer Channel?

of course the SUN BOWL would be up the charts this past season because of the fact OKLAHOMA was in it. In 1999 OU wasn't a big name like it was under Switzer and since OU is well accomplished even more than before the 2005 season and with 3 more conference titles and a national title appearance...the 2009 Sun had to be the best for them because of Oklahoma and the opposition having the Heisman runner-up.

I think the Texas Bowl was on the NFL network last year, so not many people even had the chance to watch it. That is, if I remember right.

The people we met at the Sun Bowl told us they hoped the Sooners were not back next year as we belong in the BCS Bowl which I agree 100%. They loved our being there and the amount of money that translated to for the Sun Bowl and El Paso. You get the feeling they know when the Sooners come to town, they spend money. A lot of people we met have followed the Sooners over the years. We were made to feel very welcome and laughed at the local sports media favoring the Sooners.

Hate to drop an egg on this discussion of ratings but since 2002 OU has only helped raise the television ratings of two bowl games: the Holiday and Sun Bowls. We actually seem to kill the ratings in many bowl games...a lot. Check out http://thenationalchampionshipissue.blogspot.com/ for a discussion of bowl game ratings and other good talk. The author was kind of amazed at our lack of ratings given our record of very good teams in the past 7 years. I was very surprised at the results.

Really, it was a good game. Close, competitive, well-played, but with stupid refs to add some spice. Toby Gerhart was as good as advertised and, best of all, OU won.
