We'll see how Taylor goes. He may not be ready early in the season. McFarland looked pretty good near the end of the year. Gerald McCoy said he took Stacey McGee under his wing and that he thinks he's the next great DT at OU. We'll see about that. Taylor's injury isn't a good thing but it may give the coaches a chance to see what some of the younger guys can do in the spring and early fall. Maybe we can have an actual DT rotation instead of playing just 2 guys like we did much of this year.

This might not be the case with A-Train as we don't really know the extent of the injury...however the words horrific and the fact that there was no replay lead me to believe this timeline might be closer than your....we'll see how he is in September or October....just sayin'.

If any of the medical folks would like to speculate...I'd be up to hear what they think.

The healing time varies according to the severity of the fracture, and the health and age of the patient. The callus of healing bone usually can be seen on X-ray in about six weeks in adults, and earlier in children. However, this first mineralized bone is not as strong as mature bone, which slowly forms by a process of remodeling, which can take up to 18 months.

Usually, compound fractures take much longer to heal, due to the amount of injury that the bone and the surrounding tissue sustains, and also because of the higher rate of complications caused by non-union of the joints and infections.

ndpruitt03
1/13/2010, 08:32 PM
Wow if it's 18 months he won't even play next year. Let's hope it's not that bad, but that injury was really ugly to watch. Too bad Granger couldn't get a 6th year.

StoopTroup
1/13/2010, 08:36 PM
I bet he gets a medical for that. I hope his prognosis is better too...but as bad as that looked....I'd think we might not see him play next year at all and that maybe he'd be back the following season. But...who knows? Bob ain't gonna talk about it probably unless someone holds him down and tortures him. Even then...I'm not sure he'll talk.

I'm no doctor, but even without a replay I can tell you that boys toes were pointing the same direction as his @ss. That has got the be one hell of a break in both the fibula and tibula(?).

This is kinda good.

Kinda? He's the best returning DE in the entire conference. Shoot, he's the only Defensive Lineman on first or second team all-conference that is returning. Yeah, it's a big deal.

I'm no doctor either and I saw the position of Adrian's foot. But I've seen similarly displaced breaks that did not turn out to have complications - just the normal bone healing time. I haven't seen an official summary of the injuries or the prognosis. I don't whether to take that as a bad sign or a good sign.

Back on topic - great news about Beal returning!

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 01:36 AM

i really like Arizona +points ..

he also has 4 Sooners in the first round...

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 01:42 AM
if u do a "4 team teaser" which in this case is a sweetheart teaser

u would get... (if u took all the underdogs)

for -120

Arizona +20 points
Baltimore +20 points
Dallas +16 points
NY Jets +21 points

now remember, if u do a teaser.. u have to win all games to count it.. if u lose 1 of the 4 .. u lose it all

so -120... let say you put 600 bucks down... u have a chance to win 500... risk 600, to win 500

or 300, to win 250....

Collier11
1/14/2010, 01:43 AM
thanks for the gambling lesson johnny chan :D

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 01:46 AM
how tempting is that tho.... all those damn points!!!!!!!!!!

or take the favs in a 4 team teaser and get...

Saints +6 points
Colts +6 points
Vikings +10
Chargers +5

which u like best?? gotta hit all 4 to win!

Collier11
1/14/2010, 01:48 AM
600 to win 500 sounds like a sh*t bet to me, I would think you would get better odds on a 4 teamer? But I guess since you are teasing the hell out of it, I might take those bets

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 01:50 AM
or u can take the +300 and get...

Arizona +13
Baltimore +13
Dallas +19
NY Jets +14

so u could bet 500 bucks, to win 1500

(gotta win all 4 spreads)

Collier11
1/14/2010, 01:54 AM
man thats tempting, the game that would scare me would be baltimore, the other ones I would feel really good about

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 01:58 AM
yep, i will probably bet it , and get ****ed

betting on Basketball is the most fun.... say u take a 3 point underdog.. and they start fouling at the end. b/c they are down... ohhh mannn it pisses u off!!! if the lose by 4 or 5 b/c of free, free throws ..
basically most games come down to fouls at the end... (spread wise if close)

i remember my buddy back in 03 or 04 .. something.. bet the UCONN DUKE basketball game... he had UCONN -3... and they were up 4 points with like 1 second left... dukes ball... so the duke guy launches a meaningless 3 pointer, an makes it.. so UCONN Wins by 1 point... and they blow the spread.. LOL... Duke +3 wins!

I found this write up on collegefootballnews.com about dom franks, I think this says it perfectly

Dominique Franks, CB Oklahoma
Measurables: 6-0, 195
Projection: 2nd Round
Good Move or Bad Move: While there are several question marks about his consistency, and he thinks he's a bit better than he really is, it's a mediocre year for corners and he could be one of the top five defensive backs taken. He has decent size and he's dangerous with the ball in his hands, but he doesn't project to be a star No. 1 corner. However, he'd be fantastic as a No. 2 and could be a strong nickel and dime back.

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 02:05 AM

Any chance Dom retracts his word if everything doesn't pan out? When would he have to do so? Has he already talked to an agent? I'm not sure about any of the rules.

VA Sooner
1/14/2010, 11:36 AM
Good news for the Sooner Nation. Need him back in the rotation as the new guys get more reps... and having four good ones in the rotation means plenty of rest and fresh legs against offenses this year.

Agree... need work/recruitment at DT, although, I too was impressed with young MacFarland.

Franks is flirting with being a day 2 pick...lots of big name talent going to be ahead of him..

Good decision by Beal..good talent but not the measurables yet..

ndpruitt03
1/14/2010, 02:35 PM
The first day is only 2 rounds so he'll be a 2nd day pick most likely. The thing about Beal is I don't know if he can improve his status. So I'm not sure it's a good decision. He may just be stuck being a 2nd round guy at best.

Why does it take an hour to get 3 picks done? The NBA does it the best because they take almost no time between picks.

I have always thought the 1st rd should be 10 min, the 2nd 5 min, and the rest should be 3 min. why do they need 15 min to make a 1st rd pick, they pretty much know who they want anyway

10 minutes is far too long. 5 minutes is enough to make a pick.

Mostly because you have teams trying to broker trades and communicate with each other...The Vikings would tell you there isn't enough time

Eielson
1/14/2010, 08:25 PM
That draft was awesome. With all those quick picks it only took like 5 hours for the first round.

We shouldn't cut the time, because entertainment isn't the main purpose of the draft, but it shouldn't take 15 minutes for the fist pick when you already have a guy signed to a contract. The second pick shouldn't take hardly anytime either since they know who is going first.

JLEW1818
1/14/2010, 08:27 PM
i hear if u get first pick.. u can sign the guy before the draft, and then still select another player as the first pick

good strategy IMO
