The update is that he doesn't have to sit out a season for transfer rules since he transferred out of OU to be closer to his sick mother.

Much like Tashard Choice leaving to help his sick mother, I wish Jameel all the best in his post-Sooner career.

The epilogue is here. (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/TU/article.aspx?subjectid=94&articleid=20110406_94_0_Jameel10909)

I have no idea what's going on with him. Hope it isn't more family issues :(

That's not really fair. He obviously did, scoring 6 TDs or whatever.
Maybe playing college football isn't all he thought it would be? Maybe he has different aspirations.. Or (if he does have a family issue) maybe his family takes priority.

This...

You gotta go to class, practice hard, play for the team, and carry yourself properly while off the field.

I don't know but I have a feeling he may be lacking in 1 or more of these areas.

It was probably very difficult making the transition from OU to Tulsa... I never transferred, but I've heard it's a pain in the arse to see which credits carry over (hold onto all of your class syllabusses... syllabi? whatever) and with a football player, this kind of came to light with that loser QB at Michigan --- you need to have 30 credit hours per year to remain eligible in college sports. For example, you can't be classified as a junior if you only have 58 hours for whatever reason (not wanting a huge class load, failing classes, dropping classes, etc). With Jameel not sitting out a year between OU and TU, I wonder if credit transfer/classification was messed up.

Of course, since he transferred to be closer to his ill mother in Muskogee in the first place, that might have also been a factor.

Yes, he was a highly touted recruit, but you have to consider the intangibles also when looking at his stat line.

Well, at the end of the day, all it means to me is OKC > Tulsa.

depending on what the situation with his mother is, school may just be too hard to focus on. if it is a debilitating/progressive disease, that can take a lot out of a person.

we don't know the whole story so I have a hard time throwing any rocks in his direction because of that.

I only wish him and his family well.......

Article says he's not even coming back to school. I don't read that as a good sign for the young man at all, but I hope it works out for him eventually. Looks like a hard road.
