I heard that from an unreliable source. Was wondering if anyone else heard this.

I would be saddened if he did, they already have the #1 and #2 DT's in this class.... it would not be fun for our offensive line the next several years.

ESPN says today he plans to visit OU Jan 22

Okay good, thanks guys. I figured it was BS, but thought I better ask people that may actually know for sure.

I bet he goes to Houston. His daddy Jim is the D-Line coach there.

He did scratch Florida off his list though -- http://highschoolsportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/01/jeffcoat-crosses-florida-off-his-list.html

just saw where there is a possibility that his dad just might coach at OU now that DE coach wilson just left.....maybe that will help recruit his son? his sister is playing there next year too. just move the family to norman.

Only problem I've worried about is if this happens, there's a strong possibility he looks at it as, "do I really wanna put up w/ being coached by dad". If he's someone that wants to get away from the family for school, we're screwed. On the other hand though, if he's a big family man, then it helps us big time!

My guess is it would be understood that if we hire dad we get the son as well. It may seem a little underhanded, but big-time college football is a brutal business.

Stuff like that is done in basketball all the time.

Absolutely.

Stuff like that is done in basketball all the time.

Perfect Example: Michael Beasley (although it wasn't his dad)

They also like to pay thousands of dollars to "coaches" (dads) to run basketball camps. Example: Daniel Orton.

Was... not so much anymore. It's illegal in Basketball now.

They made a new rule this year? What is it? I doubt it would stop things like what happened with Beasley from happening.

If he didnt wanna be coached by his dad, he would have never visited Houston

"The council did not pass a proposal to limit who can be hired as basketball camp instructors."

The Orton situation is still legal.

I was referring to hiring coaches. Essentially squashing the Larry Brown/Danny Manning scenario.

David,
I still think the looking at UH was essentially a "lets keep daddy happy" kind of deal. I mean seriously, his dad would be totally inept in his job if he didn't recruit his own 5* son.

The good thing for us though, is that I think it would be very tough for him to play against his father. We'll see how it shakes out though.

I doubt his dad thinks like that, i know mine dosnt. His dad wouldnt be a D1 coach if he pressure kids (especially his own)

Not sure what you're asking. Dads pressure kids all the time. So do division 1college coaches. I'm not saying that Jeffcoat jr is being told what to do, but his dad's position will be a factor.

Gotta love this assclown that eliminates OU totally. Yet EVERYONE else says it's between OU and *. I know the prick is a * writer, but you would think ESPN editors would at least demand some sort of neutrality! LOL

In the end, they all commit to their in-state schools. (J.Jones, R.Randle, J.Jeffcoat...)

Maybe he'll change his mind before next fall when he realizes that family is first and it would be so much easier on the parents' visits if he and his sister were at the same school, and possibly his dad.

It could happen. Ryan Broyles changed his mind after committing to Aggie.

Jeffcoat is really good dont get me wrong here but all I know is that he was lined up against Adam Shead (OUr recruit) in the playoffs this year and Shead didnt lose one battle all game. Yes, Jackson is a DE but he played DT some this year too and vs Shead he didnt look so hot. This is still a great recruiting class for us....and for some reason Shead lost a star and is now a 3 star (even after his performance against Jeffcoat)
