Yeah...I said it!

Boomer.....

That's what Traber and Rogers said but I just don't see it.

This team, win or lose, better come out with some intensity and discipline tonight.

OSU football had more wins, had more votes in the national polls and had Poke fans more optimistic than ever this past season.

... but I would be happy with just more effort, even if it doesn't result in a win. Just TRY! Just be the Packers down by 17 on the road in the playoffs, not wanting their season to end just yet. Sure you just gave up a big play to open the second half and now you're down by 21, but DANG IT, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THAT! Show us you are.

There is no reset button on the Packer game and there's no reset button on the Sooners' season. Show them that even if the best you can hope for is the CBI, that you are still worthy of being called "Sooners."

My kool aid is crimson
With a tiny hint of cream
If Oklahoma doesn't actually win tonight
They actually did in my dream

I'm rooting for it for sure but if it starts to go sour....I'm not sure just how much I can take.

We at least have this what ever happens....

Oklahoma owns a 125-90 all-time record against Oklahoma State and has won five of the last six meetings and eight of the last 11. The Sooners have swept the regular season series three out of the last four years.

We're 7-0 at home, they can't exploit our lack of big men, and crocker showed last time that he can shut down Anderson. I don't expect crock to shut him down, but at least contain him. At Stillwater I don't think we have a chance, but we aren't at Stillwater.

Is this ESPN's idea of a sick joke? "Let's make them watch their former LOI signee lead the #4 team in the nation, and then for fun we'll get their hopes up and show it, but then have Warren turning the ball over, and that pot head making an ugly shot."

Eielson
1/11/2010, 10:37 PM
Is it just me or is willie not getting any calls?

Eielson

43-42!

Eielson
1/11/2010, 10:45 PM
Anderson coming back in. Oddly enough we didn't cheer when he went down, but did cheer when he got up. Not very whornish.

Eielson
1/11/2010, 10:51 PM
They just flat out tripped tiny but no call and left tmg with nobody to pass it to, and thus turned it over.

3:26 to go! 51-45!

Geez. The missed FT are killing here...

I can't wait until Tiny gets his conditioning totally right. I know he's put a lot of work in on it, but he still has a way to go.

Why is Knight cuddling Musberger?

Frozen Sooner

You are correct, Knight. OU really doesn't want to run their possessions through Muonelo.

Good thing warren took that shot with 25 seconds left on the shot clock.

Okay. It's official. I can't wait for warren to go pro.

Willie sometimes plays as if he thinks you get bonus points for early shots.

Eielson

Willie sometimes plays as if he thinks you get bonus points for early shots.

He can't even shoot 30 percent from three yet he shoots like he's a three point specialist.

Apparently good possessions for warren are when he doesn't make a mistake. At least that is what bobby thinks.

Nice defense, Tiny!

Remember when Obi Muonelo was griping about not getting the same media burn as Blake Griffin?

What happened to that cat? I noticed he didn't even start tonight.

WW still isnt the same player he was last yr or that he is capable of being but he seemed to have more "hop" in his step for a lack of a better description. He seemed to play hard, play aggressive (still out of control at times), he made some nice passes, he drove the the basket more which he is good at, and he played good D in the 2nd half.

It could be a dead-heat over who's more disappointed in the outcome: (A) the Aggie-loving media types in Oklahoma, who always seem to be completely clueless about the all-time series record (now 126-90, OU), or (B) the group of OU fans who probably wanted to have yet another chance to blame a loss on Kelvin Sampson (four years after his departure).

the_ouskull
1/12/2010, 10:21 AM
Don't forget (C) - the fans who worry that an early conference win like this will hurt, not help, us in the long run.

I mean, I'm not one of those fans... but they are out there, I'm sure.

I think that we'll build on this one. If he's worth his contract, Capel will be beating them down today for trying to lose it, not patting them on their pampered *sses for finding a way to win it. If the players are worth their scholarships, they'll understand why that's the right way to do it, and they'll start working harder at doing the things that got us the lead (good passing, good spacing, attacking the basket) and eliminating the things that almost lost it (horrendous free throw shooting, selfish play - poor shot selection, lack of defensive responsibility, hesitant - careless passing...) for us.

I hope so...

Okay, just so this doesn't appear that I'm "throwing darts at a wall blindfolded" or anything like that, I want to show that I wasn't. I listed a few reasons why I felt this would happen, and I'm going to take a look back at them.

Firstly, and most importantly, I said we were at home. We were 7-0 there. Now we are 8-0 there. You could say that "oh but we played easier oponents there," but you would be wrong. This includes a beatdown of Arizona, who although their record sucks overall, they beat UCLA at UCLA by 14 and once top ten ranked (although undeserving) Washington by 17. We also handed Arkansas their third worst loss of the season (even worse than what #1 Texas handed them). Now we've beaten OSU, there. All of our home games outside of the Northern Colorado game have been as good our better than we expected coming into the season. I think it should be pretty clear we're remarkably better at home.

Secondly, I said that I felt Crocker would be able to handle Anderson. I felt this way because he's done well against some top notch offensive players...including Anderson. Just so you guys that want to check this know, when Anderson went off for 37 or whatever, Crocker was on the bench in foul trouble. Most of those points came against Cade Davis. However, the 11 point game about a week later, Crocker was not in foul trouble. I saw Crocker guard Anderson some, and simply assumed that Crocker was guarding him. However, I'm told that he guarded Muonelo. All the better, though, seeing as Muonelo's performance (3 points, 1-12 shooting, 4 turnovers including the late one) may have been the biggest factor in our win.

Thirdly, and finally, I said that Oklahoma State could not exploit our lack of big men. By "lack of big men" I meant that as in we only have one. That's all we ended up needing. Fitzgerald and Wright combined for 16 total minutes and 3 points, and 3 rebounds. Pothead played well, as did Gallon, but nobody else did for OSU. Muonelo would be considered their biggest guard, and he had 3 points off of 1-12 shooting. Not sure if any big men came off the bench, but their entire bench combined for three points on 0-8 shooting. We also outrebounded them 43-42. To see how that compareds, we were outrebounded 38-22 against Baylor.

So basically, you can say I was lucky, but I named three reasons, and they played huge roles in our success.

• OU improved to 126-90 all-time against OSU and to 78-26 against the Cowboys in Norman. The Sooners have won their last six Bedlam contests at home. They have won six of the last seven meetings overall and nine of the last 12.

Something struck me in the postgame report. James Hale talked about how the players felt exhausted after the game. The message from the coaches was that they should feel that way after EVERY game and EVERY practice. My thoughts exactly.

Yeah, no doubt. Unless you're killing yourself out there on that court, you have no room to question "what might have been." It's another example of a bunch of spoiled b*tches. I hate sports.

Sorry. Hugo High School gym. Old school, literally. If you can't play, then sit and watch, and keep the ballers on the court. Everybody shows up, from current high school players to former players, to old men, to current college players, home on "game day/night" 'cause Hugo's all they know...

But it's good ball. If you can't play, you won't be long for playing...

Maybe I'll tape some games and YouTube them if I can ever figure out all this fancy technology stuff.
