Fired for player mistreatment, per ESPN. (no link, having trouble with ESPN site.)

Wow, Mangino, Leach and Leavitt all fired w/i about a month for the same reason. And all the most successful coaches in the history of their schools.

Is 'old school' dead? Or, are these isolated incidents that just happened to occur near simultaneously? Or, were these politically motivated hatchet jobs, where craven administrators were looking for an excuse?

Discuss.

EDIT: I'll throw out one more scenario -- In the end, did these guys just not win enough to overcome their shortcomings?

I heard Seattle fired Jim Mora and are going after Pete Carroll too.

Okay, here I am.

Didn't South Florida win the Fulmer Cup? I think that may have had more to do with it.
