Too funny not to share...

"Indian (from India) women also run an outsize risk of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease, including a high rate of HIV/AIDS. One cause is that Indian men's condoms malfunction more than 15 percent of the time. Why such a high fail rate? According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, some 60 percent of Indian men have penises too small for the condoms manufactured to fit World Health Organizations specs. That was the conclusion of a two-year study in which more than 1,000 Indian men had their penises measured and photographed by scientists. "The condom," declared one of the researchers, "is not optimized for India."

I'd hate to be the guy that had the job of measuring. How much would a job like that pay anyway? It would have to be quite a bit I think....

I get incensed by perpetuation of this sort of incredibly stupid stereotypes. Didn't we already prove that there were more red dot Indians capable of properly writing the English language than in the US? Given a population of 800-900mn, is it a stretch of the imagination to think that there are bigger dicks in India than there are in the US? Think about that for a while, while I am laughing. ;)

Not if they're all part of the same gene pool, Chuck. That would be true if the gene pool was heavily varied like the US, but not necessarily for India. If they all gots the small weenus, they all gots the small weenus.

And, you know this for a fact because...

Actually the biggest dick I've ever seen was on an India fella and there was no chance of sex with anything but maybe an elephant.

?

Is it your position that there's some kind of correleation between appendage mass and the ability to write English?

Because if it is, I may need to dumb up my sentences.

Actually, Chuck, I can not be certain that bigger dicks are not located right here on soonerfans.com than in all of India. :D

Anyone who cites a statistic and determines that it means X needs to read this book (and Freakonomics as well). These guys do a great job of providing alternative and sometimes proven reasons why we see observed outcomes. Answers to questions like "are women really discriminated against in the workforce from a pay standpoint?" Looking at the stats and seeing that women on average get paid 30% less would seem to suggest the answer is yes, but not so fast. There are some very legitimate reasons why women are paid less--and in most cases it is a woman's choice, not some mean old bigoted white guy.

Why should suicide bombers buy life insurance?...well, you'll have to read the book to find out.

It's pretty basic genetics. There will always be mutations (which is what it sounds like your unfortunate fellow had) but for the most parts genetic traits are passed around within a gene pool. When you've been a civilization that has mostly kept to itself genetically for 6k years then you have the same traits being passed around endlessly. With a place like the US which has a constant stream of new genes coming in, the traits tend to get mixed and matched to create new things.

Heh. Things.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Variable X.

It makes me feel good to know that, at least privately, researchers are doing some "profiling" on potential terrorist activity.

I am almost finished with SuperFreak, and read the first years ago. The chapter I have found most interesting so far is Apathy/Altruism. Interesting stuff on the Ultimatum and Dictator games, as well as the Genovese Syndrome.

Gladwell's new one, What the Dog Saw, is next...

I thought India had a very diverse gene pool, maybe not as diverse as the US but still pretty diverse. There was the Indo-Arayan invasion about 1500BC and then Persian and Greek invasions starting in about 500BC. During all this, Indian merchants were out and about trading with and mixing their genes with people in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and also spreading Hinduism and Buddhism throughout Asia. The Persian Muslims came along in about 700AD and then the Mughals about 1500AD. Finally, the British got into the act starting around 1600AD and eventually added India to the Commonwealth, allowing for more mixing of cultures and more mixing of genes. Seriously speaking, we are talking about the land of the Kama Sutra.
