Bama does if that means they can add another championship for the season.

I'll be contrarian: It does matter.

The team should take note.

The team should have a very serious 2010 goal setting meeting soon.

That is, if they care, and OU hasn't become "NFL prep".

If being #25 in the AP is the Sooner goal we suck as bad as whorns.

Maybe, but this is only their 7th AP title believe it or not.

Can you imagine the humiliating feeling of just hoping to crack the AP top 25 yearly??????? Doesn't count, is a pathetic rank regardless, and would turn us all into sheephumper clones.

This may be good news. I don't remember (and am too lazy to look it up) but I think we started the 2000 NC year out of the top 25. Maybe it's an omen, maybe the stars are lining up, maybe this is the beginning of #8.

Or maybe it's a bunch of hack journalists drinking cheap bourbon, smoking bad cigars and trying to make a deadline.

we were #22 I think

the other 5 loss team ahead of OU is Clemson. please. we lose 5 but we also close the year beating two ranked teams. Clemson beat Kentucky and lost 2 of their last 3.

only thing working for Clempsun is they beat Miami. and we lose to Miami.

i don't think we deserve a lot, but we deserve to be not behind Clemson from the ACC, esp now that losing to Nebraska which was a ridiculous give-away on our part is sort of "OK" now.

Based on the closeness of our games and the quality of our opponents I'd have us at 20 or better regardless of record, but the scumbags that vote in the AP don't really watch any games anyway.

I could just write out 25 times on a sheet of paper and it has as much value as the AP poll...Heck I'll even make up a trophy to give to em

This year is over. I would be shocked if we aren't preseason top 5 in every poll next year.

Kinda strange that OSU, with their banner year vs our banged-up year, their better record, and their bigger bowl berth only managed 40 AP points to our 90.

If you're not No 1, no other ranking matters.

Clemson also played 14 games. It's why they're the only five loss team in the top 25, finishing 9-5.

I have always hated being ranked No. 1 at the beginning of the season as there is nowhere left to go but down and there are far too many pollsters that are always glad to accomodate us. Win the conference and let the ranking take care of themselves.
