I think this was posted here about a year ago but it needs to be posted again.

If DeMond played in a different era he would probably have won a Heisman.

I hadn't seen that video before. Thanks for posting it. It brought back some great memories from a not-so-great period. I remember that I used "demond" as my password at my first job after college :D

Sad thing is out of all those runs I think he netted about 30 yards because of penalties.

I'm sure that some will think this absurd, but Parker was the best college back I've ever seen. Better than AD even. Just my opinion. But its right. :)

If he plays his senior year we probably don't hire Leach and he's an NFL RB today. I really think DeMond is one of the best to ever wear an OU uni.

Huh? We hired Leach before he decided to go pro.

Demond was a stud. I still see him at my fitness center now and then. He went to high school with my wife.

He decided to go pro pretty much after Blake was fired.

Wrong. When Stoops was hired his number one recruit was keeping Parker.

Dave Sittler even wrote a story on it.

What, were you 5 then?

From what I've heard the decision was made before Stoops was hired. I'm sure Stoops tried to get him to stay though.

Tired of the pounding he took in 1998, Parker declared for the NFL draft after his junior season. He gave up his eligibility when he signed with super agent Leigh Steinberg just a few days before OU hired Bob Stoops to replace Blake.

Yep. But saying Leach wouldn't have been hired if he stayed is way off base.

They would have had a more run oriented offense instead of a pass first offense. They had an average running back, Thornton I think, and he got hurt, but not a team you can build around running the ball. They moved Daniels to WR moved some DBs to WR, recruited Savage and Heupel suddenly they have some talent at WR. If Parker were back I'm sure they would have started with an offense closer to what they ended up having which is more I formation some ace formation and some shotgun running.

More evidence of this, When Leach was still at OU Bob Stoops more or less took over playcalling because Leach wouldn't run the ball.

No chance

Didn't have an NFL body. He was what he was, a #3, change of pace, outside running, specialist

You really think Sanders didn't have an NFL body?

Barry Sanders had a great body for a running back. About 5-8/5-9 and built like a brick sh.thouse! Low center of gravity and ultra-durable.

Demond had wrists as skinny as fingers. He would/could hardly lift. Barely got thru workouts because of asthma, etc. Not an NFL frame.

A mutual friend told me that he just asked about me the other day. Probably gonna give him a call to see what's up. Demond was the truth.

Yeah, I say "hi" too.

Certainly wish him the best.

He may have been more personally screwed by the fiasco that was Blake-era Sooner football than anybody else.

He didnt have a college rb body, either. Footwork, balance, finesse, acceleration, vision - all made up for his physical shortcomings.

An all time great OU back. It was a joy watching him carry the rock!

Geez what kind of drugs are you on? He brought Leach in to the run the spread. He never had intentions of just running the ball regardless of who was on the roster at RB.
I don't miss your posts.

Remember the shirt he wore under his pads?

"Me Against The World"

He had to have that bad attitude to be successful considering the team leadership at the time.

Leach's spread{Passing} offense got us in the lead in the Notre dame game but Leaches unwillingness to run the ball cost us the game later on in the 4th quarter. I think that's when Bob started calling some plays.. I think Bob knew we should have run some clock by useing the ground game and instead we lost..

ive said it before and ill say it again, if he would have busted off a 200 yard game against ND in 99, he would have gone higher in the draft and could have JUST retired a few years back instead of flaming out in the nfl after 2 or 3 seasons.

asthma....too small....not durable be damned... if he goes in the first day of the draft, noone will be booting you to the curb after a couple of seasons.
