Funny thing is that on my first deployment back in 2003-2004, when we caught Saddam, I was teaching Iraqi kids in Tikrit that a common sign of affection in the US was the "Whorns Down" symbol. What was even funnier was that it spread throughout the city, and soldiers would wave to random children in the street, and they would return their waves with a "Whorns Down" gesture.
