from the Tulsa World website. Kind of cool now that he has moved up, i thought if Mark took that job like it was rumored to be a possibility he would pull big bro out of the high school ranks but a good choice by their new coach.

Another Stoops joins college ranks

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has always spoken with pride of his older brother Ron, who has remained a high school defensive coordinator at their alma mater, Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown, Ohio.

Now, however, Ron Stoops has joined the college ranks.

Ron Stoops was hired as defensive backs coach and director of high school relations at Youngstown State University, a Football Championship Subdivision-tier program.

In a press release, Ron Stoops called it "a chance to keep my roots in Youngstown and do something I love. . . . With our kids being out of high school, the opportunity was too good not to take."

Ron Stoops is the oldest of four brothers — Bob, Mike (head coach at Arizona) and Mark (defensive coordinator at Florida State).

Ron Stoops spent the last nine years as defensive coordinator at Mooney, the same job held by his late father, Ron Sr.

Ron Stoops will work under newly hired head coach Eric Wolford, a Youngstown native who worked under Mike Stoops as offensive line coach at Arizona from 2004-06.

Would be cool if someone can put a short video package together about the Stoops Brothers sometime in the near future. That would be neat to see them all together just talking about growing up together, playing together, coaching together and such.

I have always liked Youngstown State, mostly for their mascot. The penguin.
This guy just looks surly http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/bd/YoungstownStatePenguins.png/180px-YoungstownStatePenguins.png

Doesn't quite have the pecker that a Jayhawk has.

Who in the world started that rumor? Why would Mark take a highly probable pay cut and a step down in status?

Mark may not be totally ready for the bigs, but he could easily get a job at a lot of non bcs schools.

these are just from the youngstown newspaper but ESPN had him rumored as a top candidate there and a candidate for UNLV. i think the only draw to taking a step down and being a head coach is the hometown draw, i dont think he would even consider another 1-AA school.

Basically, they called him. He said he was on the other line and he'd call them back. To which they said, "So you're saying there's a chance..."
