when Jim Tresel became the only head coach to win a national championship in 1AA (4) and in 1A (1).

And now in 2009....

when Saban will be the first head coach to win national championships at two different 1A schools...even more impressive from the same conference.

Oklahoma became the first non-Pac 10, non-Big 10 team since 1946 to win the Rose Bowl when it wasn't the BCS national championship game in 2002.

The team that won in 1946? The Alabama Crimson Tide, defeating USC 34-14.
