Rivals has (10) of our recruits clocked under 4.5 in the 40 and (6) more listed at 4.5 (presumably up to 4.59) - this is fricking insane. Trey Millard is listed at 6'2" 245 with a 40 time of 4.5 - that cannot be real!

Millard will be a force as an fullback. In his highlight video, he was used as a running and receiving FB. I would love see him truck one of the nACHO brothers!

Most all 40 times on kids coming out of high school are BS, same for college kids. If you want a legit 40 time on a kid you have to wait until the NFL combine.

Scouts said at the O-D game, Kenny Stills was the fastest player there. I believe he could run a 4.36-4.40.

Just goes to show you what Bob and Co. went for after the game in January 09.

I think Switzer said it best, "You Can't Teach Speed."

actually I think it goes to show you after the game vs west virginia...last years class has a ton of speed too. This years class is faster...either way I'm happy about the speed we have recruited over the past 2 classes.

Exactly. Florida has a policy that if don't meet their speed test then you're not playing there.

Speed is more necessary than ever, because so many teams run quick passes and dink and dunk you. You need your corners and safeties to have the speed to shut these guys down. On offense, you need receivers who can break these plays open. Not to mention, the return game can be game changers if a fast guy busts one off on the other team.

I think OU has had average speed outside Peterson and Mark Bradley.. It's great to be big, but if you aren't fast enough to catch them all that strength does nothing. That's why we are seeing Stoops and Company shift their focus to get more speed guys.

I was hoping for ludicrous speed.

Look at the national championship teams of the '70's and '80's, their common factor was superior speed. At some point, and OU is lucky enough to not have to compromise too much, the faster man tends to win at most sports. Football is no exception.

Speed was the telling difference in some of the bowl games I watched. It seemed that some teams were unprepared for how fast the game was played, how quick the other team, especially on defense, could get to them.

Why can't people tell the difference between "dominate" and "dominant?"
