I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has ever had even a passing interest in quantum physics and what it really says about the world we live in. This book is a fantastic treatment of the wierdnesses of quantum physics that, IMO, is accessible to anyone. Highly recommended.

What books do you recommend reading in 2010

You lost me at "anyone having a passing interest in quantum physics.";)

IMHO, if a book isn't about firearms, history or public policy, it was a waste of paper and it's publication contributed to deforestation to no good purpose.

Ike, thanks dude. I have previously asked you to recommend good quantum physics books. I have read the other books that you have suggested and I want more. I will order this one.

I still have some, probably stupid, questions. Has there been any recent breakthrough research or new theories on dark energy and dark matter in terms of quantum physics? Could ghost particles or the probability of chance have greater weight and gravity in open space because of the greater degee of long-term chance/potential. The inter-connectiveness thing and time on a quantum scale just blows my mind. This is probably really stupid but heavy drinking during halftime of an OU bowl game has me wondering if greater chance or probability is not also pushing the universe apart at a faster rate.

Anyway, thanks.

I recently got this book, it's pretty interesting.

Why I Became An Athiest (http://www.amazon.com/Why-Became-Atheist-Preacher-Christianity/dp/1591025923)
Regard of your stance, atheist or fundamentalist, this is a great book. I really respect the perspective of the writer; it's one of the few books about atheism that I've read that logical and considerate. There's none of the snide Dawkins-esque vitriol. Just a guy telling his story and providing good substance to document his journey.

God's Mechanics: How Scientists and Engineers Make Sense of Religion (http://www.amazon.com/Gods-Mechanics-Scientists-Engineers-Religion/dp/0787994669)
So it's obvious what I'm thinking about these days. :) Brother Guy Consolmagno is a research astronomer at the Vatican. He's a good writer and he does a great job of resolve how one can be a scientist and maintain belief.

Myth of a Christian Nation (http://www.amazon.com/Myth-Christian-Nation-Political-Destroying/dp/0310267315/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262390701&sr=8-1)- I already started this one. It would really make a lot of people I know mad to read.

Pagan Christianity (http://www.amazon.com/Pagan-Christianity-Exploring-Church-Practices/dp/141431485X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262390762&sr=1-1)- We're going to do a book study with some friends on this one. It's a book about how to still be a Christian without doing the "church thing".

America On Trial (http://www.amazon.com/America-Trial-Inside-Battles-Transformed/dp/0446694738/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262390847&sr=1-1) - OK, so this is a book for one of my upcoming classes, so I kind of have to read it. It's a book about famous American trials and the reasoning they used. It's not putting America on trial. A class with an interesting book, what a concept!

I listened to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the way to and from Tucson this past weekend. It was kind of weird. As we turned the final corner off of Hwy. 39 about 1 1/2 miles from the house we finished it. How cool is that? Audio books for long drives are the shizz. And HPatDH RMFO. Again.

For 2010? Who knows? Whatever new stuff Patterson puts out. One thing I do know though, I won't be reading anything about quantum physics - whatever the **** that is.

I'm actually not sure as I haven't seen it but that description definitely sounds like Brother Guy. He's really a cool guy and I hold a lot of respect for him as a someone who has figured out how to be a man of science and a man of faith without having to sacrifice one or the other.

It's scary, but I 100% agree with this.
