Time to fly to Florida and scoop up some early Gator commits.

Mark May just siad UF should go after Bob Stoops and if they can't get him go after his brother Mike. Lou Holtz said the Miss. State or Utah Coach. Stoops ain't going to Florida. He is a Sooner period end of story.

You have started to see some guys who were heavy FLA leans, like Stills and Luc whose now at FSU, back away from FLA. Again, I seriously doubt Bob goes to FLA. It would be a lateral move; therefore, I would look at a big time coordinator (Muschamp), or a big time midmajor coach (Patterson or Peterson). Heck, I wouldn't even rule out The Ol' Ball Coach for a second run at things.

I only wish they would go after Muschamp...but I just don't see it happening. When Jeremy Foley was faced with this in basketball, he immediately went after a protege, Anthony Grant, before Billy Donovan eventually decided to come back. I think the same thing will happen here.

Look for him to make the obligatory call to Bob, but after he says 'no', the next phone call will be to Kyle Wittingham at Utah.

I could really see Stoops leaving. Florida has offered before, but they weren't built up like they are now. He has said many times that he loves the state and he's lived and coached there before. I think if they offered enough coin it may peak his interest to leave for something new.

However, he has the #1 recruiting class according to scout. Although he's struggled in bowl wins he has built a legacy here. Living here for a decade has surely rooted his family here. He has outside businesses that he's heavily involved with.

In the end, if Florida really came after him and offered serious money I think he would probably leave. However, Florida may be a little cautious due to his bowl losses and down year. It will be interesting to see how this thing shakes out.

I can tell you this, since the news, most FLA fans WANT Coach Stoops, but they don't figure that they can get him. Why, you ask? Because they view it as a lateral move! Like I stated before, I believe it will be Mullen. It makes sense. He installed that offense, and he helped recruit some of the youngsters who are there. It would be a smoother transition than if Coach Stoops came and retooled the entire thing.

It is a much more attractive job now, they have one of the most talented rosters in the country, national recognition with high school recruits not only in florida but nationwide, and fans all across the country. UF may be on par with OU, but not "much more attractive". This decade OU has had as many AA's, more Heisman's, and more championship game appearances. As assistants continue to drain from the Meyer staff to HC jobs, let's see if they can do as well with sustaining the elite status that OU has acheived over at least seven decades.

1. NO State Income Tax. Oklahoma costs Bob $240K per year in Taxes.
2. Winter!
3. Great Golf Courses.
4. Salt water fishing.
5. Great beaches.

I'm sure Bob will stay at OU but it's not a slam dunk. Oklahoma has some serious set backs in attracting new business--one that no corporation will talk about, but the executives can save significant cash by moving their headquarters to Texas or Florida. While many oil companies like to talk about the strategic advantages of Houston over Tulsa and Bartlesville, the average senior level executive saves about $200K after taxes living in Texas (versus Oklahoma).
With Urban staying invlovled in the Florida Program and his planned return when his health improves, I don't think Bob will leave at this juncture, but If the conditions were right, I think Bob would take the HC at another school, especially if "feeding the beast" at OU becomes too onerous.
In other words, he would consider the financial aspect of another job, but what would cause him too leave would be a weaking of fan support for the program. If we keep bitching about his performance, he could just say, to he** with it.

You ignore one leeeetle thing: property taxes. Though you and I might not mind living in our boats or RV's (and they can count as residences IF they have a toilet - please note for post divorce purposes), most execs with incomes worth protecting have sagacious tax counsel.....who can find deducts for the most INteresting things! Urban Meyer will not return from his leave of absence and Lee Corso will be the new Florida head coach.

HC - Heupel
OC - Norvel

Got a feeling Venables is the next Pitt coach.....or Bob takes him to Florida.

Mike: So how long do I wait to call?
Trent: A day.
Mike: Tomorrow.
Sue: Tomorrow, then a day.
Trent: Yeah.
Mike: So two days?
Trent: Yeah, I guess you could call it that, two days.
Sue: Definitely, two days is like industry standard.
Trent: You know I used to wait two days to call anybody, but now it's like everyone in town waits two days. So I think three days is kind of money. What do you think?
Sue: Yeah, but two's enough not to look anxious.
Trent: Yeah, two's enough not to look anxious. But I think three days is kind of money. You know because you...
Mike: Yeah, but you know what, mabey I'll wait 3 weeks. How's that? And tell her I was cleaning out my wallet and I just happened to run into her number.
Charles: Then ask her where you met her.
Mike: Yeah, I'll ask her where I met her. I don't remember. What does she look like? And then I'll asked if we ****ed. Is that... would that be... T, would that be the money?
Trent: You know what. Ha ha ha Mike, laugh all you want but if you call too soon you might scare off a nice baby who's ready to party.
Mike: Well how long are you guys gonna wait to call your babies?
Trent, Sue: Six days.

I looked at GatorCountry.com. and there was almost no mention of Stoops. The only mention was of his BCS losses. I didn't get the feeling he was even close to the top of anyone's list over there.

Maybe we can give him a $2m bonus to make sure?? God I hope it doesn't come to that.

Stoops makes plenty of money i don't want him to leave but if he does we'll be fine..

Houston Chronicle today lists main candidates, if Meyer has any say so, as:

Utah's Kyle Whittingham (was Meyer's defensive coord at Utah)
Mississippi State's Dan Mullen (formerly Fla offensive coord under Meyer)
Arkansas Bobby Petrino

Apparently Petrino was Foley's next choice behind Urban Meyer in 2004. No mention of Bob Stoops in article.

If we win our bowl game, we will likely be #1 in the preseason polls and will surely be a favorite to make it to the NC (especially given the current state of the Big 12). Why would anyone leave a situation like that to go rebuild an historically inferior program?

Mark May just siad UF should go after Bob Stoops and if they can't get him go after his brother Mike. Lou Holtz said the Miss. State or Utah Coach. Stoops ain't going to Florida. He is a Sooner period end of story.

Why would he leave OU? Nebraska's leaving and TX sucks. It's setting up great for him here.

He's a great coach to whom Gator Nation will always owe a debt of gratitude, but honestly, we don't want him.
