Banana is a bastardization of moon pie.

Anyone tried the peanut butter? They came out last year but I haven't had one yet.

You have to take where I was raised into account. In all honesty, it's more mid-western than southern.

C'mon, man. Nobody was raised less Southern than me, but I even encountered Moon Pies after a couple of years in Oklahoma. Heck, I think they're even made in Tulsa.
Well, never mind, I guess they're made in Tennessee. I did, however, find out that Mobile has a tradition of a gigantic Moon Pie being lowered to the ground for New Year's.
I love Alabama sometimes. Seriously.

I love Alabama as well. I've traveled through every southern state extensively, and Alabama is by far my favorite. In fact, the whole reason I grew up in Oklahoma is because the family moved west out of Alabama to escape reconstruction. :D
Another reason I love Alabama is that they always supported me when I ran for a national office in the CofC. My least favorite is North Carolina.
Somehow though I never saw or heard of a moon pie before.

I live in Nebraska FFS, and have ate Moon Pies and drank RC for years.

Now, I do love RC. RC is also the only soda available at Baylor besides Dr. Pepper.
Everything is Dr. Pepper and RC.

I won't try the mint ones; I have had to delete moon pies from my list of snack food, as they were singularly responsible for 50 extra pounds of ugly fat on my nether region. (lordy, but I do miss them.)

moon pies are just plain nasty.
