look! they even mention Allen Patrick!

AP averaged 24 carries per game for his career.
 ;)

Bush averaged 222 all-purpose yards per game for the decade's most prolific offense,

dumbest stat in all of football.

a yard on a kickoff return =/= a rushing yard.

hell, I could probably get 50 yards in kickoff returns in a game. (after 12 yards or so, I would likely dive to the ground and curl up into the fetal position, but still, 12 yards!!!)

for the decade's most prolific offense?

hmm I would think that would be the record-setting Oklahoma Sooners of 2008.

It's obvious that Reggie Bush is the best paid college running back of the decade ;)

this isn't a pro-award, right? let's not be revisionist about this. bush won two national titles and was absolutely amazing in college. ad was awesome, but only played one full season without injuries.

jason white was a better college QB than favre or kurt warner.

With the National Championship on the line, who did USC give the ball to? Lendale White. Why would Bush even be considered?

Bush's team won *one* national title and 1 popularity/protest AP poll.

Bush was an amazing college player.

Finishing second and by a wide margin in that poll is pretty decent.

hmmm, i wonder if you'd have the same take had OU been in the exact same position. gut feeling tells me you wouldn't.

Your gut be wrong. If it were pre-BCS, then you are right because popularity polls were all we had. I wouldn't insult the AP by refusing their award, but I list it as what it was - the top spot in a poll. But as a school in a BCS conference as the way things are right now, there is only one national title per season.

Doesn't add or take away from the college player Reggie was, though. But Petey's 'SC teams have exactly 1 BCS title.

i LOVED AD as a Sooner

he didn't stay healthy enough in college to really be considered IMO

i think Plasma is a contender for his consistency. i think you have to factor in the return game for Bush to get the nod

but really, the only answer is Tim Tebow
