Here's what happened, according to DISD police documents: A teacher at W.T. White High School in northwest Dallas approached a student's desk yesterday to check on his art project when she noticed him staring off into space. As the teacher tried to get his attention, the student pulled up his shirt and exposed himself.
The student began to moan and said "aye mami" before beginning to masturbate fervently in front of the teacher and classmates - 30 students, ranging from 14 to 17 years old.
The teacher was unable to stop the student from his continued masturbation and ran out of the classroom to get help from school police. The teacher told investigators that several students later told her "that was very scary," the police documents say.
Martin Guerrero, 17, (upper right) was arrested yesterday on a felony charge of indecency with a child (the child being his classmates). He's being held in the Dallas County jail on $5,000 bail.

I had that exact thought. The writer must have his thesaurus nearby so as to throw in these colorful adjectives while writing what must be - in general - terribly boring articles.

Felony seems to be a little harsh. They need to differentiate the acts of an adult around children from the acts of children around their peers. It's just not the same thing.

For example, when a kid takes a nude pic of his girlfriend and sends it to another friend, it shouldn't be distributing child porno unless he is 18 or over. Now if it's sent to an adult then maybe that's different.

I'm not defending either but treating this as a felony will cause society more harm than good - considering he won't be able to work, will be locked up where he'll either join a gang or die, etc.

I see your point to some degree, however I have to point out that for somebody to whip it out and just start jerking it in front of a bunch of people indicates antisocial behavior. While I don't think anybody in the class was seriously harmed by this particular incident, you have to ask if the kid's behavior is going to escalate. I'll all for treatment over incarceration if it could realistically work, but joking aside, I think this kid could pose a real threat to society if he isn't dealt with properly.

I don't think folks who aren't equipped with something to jerk on can really understand just how complex this is for us men. I think it's very insensitive and I for one am very hurt over just how insensitive Women are about our need to release the day to day tensions we are under. Sometimes we just can't wait as we get overwhelmed. Maybe they could just let him take classes from Home via the internet. Why should he have to endure having to be around so many temptations? He's in a jail already and he was just trying to escape. It's a cry for help here. I think real jail is much to severe.

Sometimes we just can't wait as we get overwhelmed.
