Can you be more specific? Physical-, Sexual-, Marriage & Family-, etc?

Why pay for a therapist when we have all the brilliant minds of the SO just itching to give you advice for free?

Heh.

Just so y'all know, all a REALLY good therapist does is get you to talk about yourself and your problems. That's it. They can't "cure" you. This is the reason I've never needed a therapist. I'm an open book. I talk about everything to anyone. All the time. Drives momma nuts sometimes, but I don't ever stew and fret cause it's all out in the open for all to see.

You just illustrated one of Mr. Roger's most poignant quotes:
"Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone."

That man was one of America's finest.

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and wonderful day in the neighborhood, won't you be, won't you be, please won't you be my neighbor? I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you, I've always wanted to live in the neighborhood with you, so let's make the most of this beautiful day, since we're together we might as well say, would you be mine? could you be mine? won't you be my neighbor?"

I'm down with that ****.

Allow me to attempt a serious response to the serious question you've posed.

#1: Your primary physician can probably give you a referral, which is also generally necessary for insurance payment.

#2: If you don't have a regular physician, or even insurance, you might consider making an appt with a counselor at a mainstream church. Many clergy have degrees and are licensed counselors and/or can provide referrals to same.

#4: If you don't want or can't afford to pursue either 1 or 2 above, Oklahoma has mental health services:

#5: If you are contemplating hurting yourself or someone else...DON'T DO IT! That tends to be a permanent solution to a temporary problem. If all else fails, and you are thinking about hurting yourself, check these resources out:

Sometimes life gets overwhelming and we feel stuck. Many universities provide either free or reduced cost services that can help.
