For the first 50 years it was simply the Sun Bowl. Then someone with incredible business acumen and probably a two-year degree from a local college figured out they could actually make money on the game if they'd only allow one little change, the name of the game. Get your program handy so you can keep up with what they are calling it now.

Sun Bowl (1935-1985)
John Hancock Sun Bowl (1986-1988)
John Hancock Bowl (1989-1993)
Sun Bowl (1994-1995)
Norwest Sun Bowl (1996-1998)
Wells Fargo Sun Bowl (1999-2003)
Vitalis Sun Bowl (2004-2005)
Brut Sun Bowl (2006-present)

Oklahoma is 2-0 while Stanford is 1-0 in Sun Bowls.

With a 5-3 record in Sun Bowls, UTEP is the all time leader in wins.

At 0-8 Sand aggie leads in Sun Bowl losses!

The whorns are 2-2 overall in this game.

Pac 10 teams have been invited continously since 1990 and are 11-7 in that time.

SUC is 0-2.

I wondered what happened to the John Hancock bowl.

Well, I didn't wonder a lot, but I was mildly curious.

Mildly curious? About the John Hancock bowl?

Also: worst bowl game last year by far. 3-0? Ugh. Get ready for another one like that this year, folks!

Well, sure. Those bowls from the past, like the Blue Bonnet Bowl, what did that turn into?

UTEP was Texas Western College until the name change in the 70's, I believe.

I remember seeing at least 4 or 5 Blue Bonnet Bowls on TV in that dome stadium in Houston - Two games were - (OU had that tie with Bama) and OU losing one to SMU 28 to 27 I believe....

I think the Blue Bonnet just died a Slow Death - Never really turned into another Bowl as far as I Know.....

I believe The Old Tangerine Bowl Turned into the now "Citrus Bowl"

I was reading down that list and thinking "holy crap, Texas Tech has lost a lot of these. For that matter, did Texas Tech ever win one of these?" I'm not aware of any team having such futility at a bowl.

Knowing that now, it would have been even sweeter if the Alamo Bowl had picked us over them. By this point, they must dread going to the Sun Bowl as much as the Sooners' opponents hate going to Norman.

F*** the ticket office. We were sent an email telling us we had until Dec. 18 at 5pm to group student tickets and when we went to group them, they had already done it and would not let us group our "two" tickets. False advertising pieces of ****.

The guy was like, "Well you have had 2 weeks to be fair." And I told him that they were unprofessional, lol. I have had 2 weeks to look at an email telling me when I could do it. When you go to school at OUHSC in OKC, you don't always have time to drive down to Norman to do it during finals and stuff.

They can shove it. From now on I am buying bowl tickets elsewhere. I don't really feel like driving to El Paso just to sit in a different section from my girlfriend. What a joke.

That was one fun game to watch. It started like any other game, but by the end of the game it had snowed so much that you couldn't see the yard markers.
