Once the regular season finishes, let the bowls offer invites to whatever teams they wish.

Then after the bowls, let the polls decide which teams they think should be crowned national champs.

Wasnt it done that way pre-bcs?

If I had my druthers, this is the way we'd do it in college basketball too. Get rid of the tourney and bring bowl games to college basketball!

I'm down with going back to the old bowl tie-ins (Orange Bowl FTW!), but not for voting for a national champion.

Maybe we can wear leather helmets and use the flying V again, too.

Those are all great suggestions.

For some reason, fans didn't seem to cry as much back in the day.

Not true - fans always cry "unfair". If the goal of any system is to stop fans from crying, it is doomed to failure. It can only tweak what they are crying about.

I'll tell you one thing. I enjoyed bowl season a hell of a lot more back then. You could have 5 or 6 games with a chance to affect who won the championship. New Years day was great.
