seems like he needs another year... i know this is about an individual performance... but his team did go 0-12 last year....

Instant Heisman finalist with butt-boy at USC.

Wow, he pulled a Bradford.

McShay had Locker going #1 overall.

I really don't understand that.

McShay had Brian Brohm going number 1 a few years back...makes perfect sense...

Locker is certainly ready physically - the guy is a beast. I'm sure another year will help him, but he is taking a risk obviously. I hope he can tag USC with another 'L' next year.

I guess better than Kiper having Andre Woodson! LOL

Kiper.......probably better than his love for the ultra slow release of woodson was his obsession with Charlie Frye...

I can't figure out why he'd return. He'd be my #1 QB pick in the league and what does he have to prove coming back?

I was sure that he was a "Lock" for going to the NFL.

a 3 year starter with 9 wins should not be #1 pick and that is losing to Washington state twice

Can someone fill me in........Is Jake Locker really that much better than Sam Bradford to be the number one projected pick? I mean I can understand that because Sam's injury his stock decreased, but Sam Bradford is still a stud........

Since Locker is not coming out this year, we'll never really know. But I remember last year that McShay thought Sam should return for his junior year to prove he could be effective and durable behind a lesser O-line. Obviously, he didn't do that. Locker has a great arm and has had to deal with pressure his entire career. He is mobil and is big and strong enough to take hits when he can't avoid them.

A QB doesn't necessarily need to have a great W/L record to get drafted. See: Josh Freeman.

Isn't Locker a baseball player as well? Maybe he's biding his time until he gets drafted to play baseball instead?

And Sam's durability is going to be a big issue now in this year's draft

Locker has another year to develop under Steve Sarkisian. I personally think it's a brilliant move to prepare for the NFL.
