View Full Version : QB Blake Bell Not Enrolling Early

He isn't coming in until next fall, so all the people expecting Bell to compete for a starting job next season can now expect him to redshirt.

Looks like the battle will be Nimmo (not really), Drew Allen, and Landry Jones (with a considerable head start).

Oh, there will still be people calling for Blake to be the savior after LJ throws his first incomplete pass.

What do people think about Cam Newton? Sounds like he's got some talent - personal issues aside.

LJ will be the starter. Hopefully, he should be much improved next year. Does Bell not have the credits to graduate or what? He is giving up any chance he had to compete for the job by not coming in here early.

I think Bell is also a baseball player, so he wants to hang around for his senior season of that, too.

When you all keep saying stuff like Landry will be the starter and KW will be the OC...you are endangering some folks towards suicide during the Holidays. I think you might want to consider their feelings. :D ;)

i'd lay some cash that Laundry will be the starter when the season starts next year

hopefully he goes out slinging like Guido did last year in Hawai'i

No need to worry. Any quarterback duel will be smothered by speculation of how horrible the oline will be.

I just hope someone steps up. I am not partial to any of them as long as they win and take care of the ball. It's not wrong for people to believe that Landry wont be the starter next year, if they are judging him by his play on the field.

Have we found anybody that can consistently catch the ball yet? No matter who the QB is, we need some catchers. I mean the type guys that can handle something not on the numbers & get YAC. Where are those type guys these days?

You can't keep blaming every bad throw on the WRs, just like we can't blame all interceptions on the QB. Bottom line is that Landry and some of the wideouts have much improvement to make.

Cam Newton really enjoyed his visit to Norman. He hasn't committed but if he does don't dismiss the possibility of him getting the nod at some point next year.

I recently heard Blake Bell on a radio station... I believe it was 1400 am... anyways he stated he wasn't coming in early but was going to spend a lot of time at the University to learn the offense and what not. He did say that he wasn't going to play baseball and was going to prepare for this coming OU season. Now, I don't know much about this Cam Newton guy. Isn't he the QB we recruited hard and he went to another University and ran into some trouble? It would seem that the coaches aren't too confident in the QB's we have or confident in the back QB role to be chasing a JUCO guy.

I think that is a great assessment of what might transpire. Even if Cam is all that...he's gonna have to beat Landry out for the job. With the experience Landry received this year...I'm thinking Cam will really have to work hard to get the nod at the beginning of the Season. Should Landry not step up...I can see somebody get a shot at starting. Either way...it's good to know we are actively recruiting top prospects for back-ups. Only good can come from the Landry, Bell, Newton situation.

Lid, I'm all for throwing the book at bad guys but I'm also one who likes to give second chances. There is a fine line with some of these kids but Stoops has a pretty good record in dealing with these types.

Keep on pluggin the hyperbole.

Maybe OU has a positive environment where second chances can happen.

I didn't see Texas ridding themselves of Sergio Kindle after he got that DWI. In fact, they liked him so much, he got away with drunk driving into an apartment building because he left the scene. Way to go, Texas!

Apples and Turnips Homeslice.

Of course, Ced did not try to change the serial number... then throw it out the window when the police were investigating.. nor was he charged with 3 felonies...

But again.. if he can play ball though, there will always be a place in Norman.

I wonder if he tried to change the serial number with a screwdriver?

Ah, yes... trying to hide something illegal from the authorities. I'm sure none of the good church boys in Austin just hand over their "cousin's" weed and/or TVs when approached by the PoPo.

The difference I guess is Kindle first tried to hide his drunk *** self. Then attempted to hide his car, right?
