View Full Version : Is it too early to try and predict

If I were picking first, I'd take Suh or demand a great trade with someone who really wants him.

I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall hearing the Panthers don't have a first round pick in the next draft. I'd wager St. Louis, Washington, Buffalo, and Seattle are all possibilities.

Thats right, forgot about that. But its possible the Redskins may not win again. Local radio has them liking Sam and Clausen. St.Louis and Buffalo sound logical too.

I think the combine is out, and they were hopefully shooting for a late pro day workout.

People here in STL don't want to take a QB in the first round. They feel like he'll just get killed and will end up being a waste of talent and money. They'd rather take a premier DT or OL or even WR if one's worth it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Suh or McCoy up here next year.

I can't imagine Clausen being taken before Suh, but I guess I'm just in awe of what Suh has consistently shown the last 2 seasons.

Not to change the subject, but if you are suggesting that landry is going to be a first round pick, it might be too early for that. Landry might be in a dog fight for the starting job this spring if a guy named cameron newton signs with OU.

Dream scenerio: bradford to minnesota. I have also heard that if bradford slips out of the top ten, he may land in denver.

Oh yeah, and suh will go number 1 overall. That is an even safer pick than taking any skill position or O-liineman.

I sure dont, they are already paying Anderson and Quinn as you said, Quinn has finally started to show some signs of being a competent QB...they need help too many other places to take another QB IMO

This is where we stand as far as drafting QBs

Not gonna draft one-

Pats
Packers
Colts
Chiefs- Just signed Cassel to a long term deal
Cowboys- I just dont see them giving up on Romo just yet
Giants
Eagles
Bears- Just committed alot to Cutler who sucks
Lions
Falcons
Saints
Bucs- Just used a 1st rder on Freeman last yr
Jets
Chargers
Ravens
Bengals
Steelers
Texans
Titans- with resurgance of Young I doubt they waste a pick on a qb

Possible-

Redskins- I put them here because Campbell is playing ok, they need help other places as well but I wouldnt be shocked if they drafted one

Arizona- I dont think they have given up on Leinart yet but who knows

49ers- They might draft a QB but Alex smith is playing well this yr

Vikings- Depends on who falls to them, Favre only has one more yr on contract

Broncos

Raiders- I put them here because they still owe a ton of money to Russell and they may like Gradkowski, who knows with them

Browns- Doubtful because of the previously discussed contract issues with 2 seperate QBs and Quinn is playing ok lately

Def need a QB-

Seahawks
Rams
Panthers- I would love for Sam to go here
Bills
Dolphins
Jags- Dont think they are committed to Garrard

Collier11
12/11/2009, 02:46 PM
Of the teams who def need a QB IMO, 4 of them will pick in the top ten most likely so SB will still get drafted very high

Denver looks to be great place for a rookie QB next year. Orton is competent enough to allow the new guy to mature in practice for a while and the team seems to be on the upswing with the new, young coach.

Print it out and save it. It's very amusing to look at these in hindsight.

I did one of Kiper's "Big Boards", a couple years back, and something like 15 of his Top 30 guys listed went in the 7th round or undrafted. It was amazingly inaccurate. Though I believe that was an October issue.

I'm sure Sam would refuse to play for Denver if you let him now this :). I just speculate it would be a good situation for a rookie - I didn't mention Sam. I'd guess Denver will be picking around #20 if they haven't traded their 1st round. I doubt they feel that Orton can take them farther, but who knows. They surprised most experts by taking an RB (Moreno) last year.

They are all off until at least post season bowl practices (senior bowl, etc)

That being said..

Kiper doesn't put near as much work into it as he used to..thats why he changes his board up so much....he basically has 2 agent buddies and he pretty much goes off what they say.

I'll just go off of Walter's list and add my 2 cents

Cleveland (1-11)- Not Likely
Tampa Bay (1-11) -No

St. Louis (1-11)-Possible-more likely an OL prospect
Detroit (2-10) - No

Washington (3-9)-possible- I think this team may be in a must get to playoffs mode next season and then they will go another direction
Kansas City (3-9)-No

Buffalo (4-8)-Likely- They have the WR, RB, and OL...defense is ok....Not a lot of pressure to make playoffs next season
Oakland (4-8) -No

Denver - from Chicago (5-7)-No
San Francisco - from Carolina (5-7)-No

Seattle (5-7)- possible here, more likely later if available in 1st round
San Francisco (5-7) No

Houston (5-7)-No
Tennessee (5-7) -No

Pittsburgh (6-6)- No
New York Jets (6-6) -No

Atlanta (6-6)-No
Miami (6-6) - Not Likely

Baltimore (6-6) - No
New York Giants (7-5)- No

Jacksonville* (7-5) - possible w/ coaching change...if no coach change, I say not likely
New England* (7-5)- No

Green Bay* (8-4)-No
Dallas* (8-4) -No

Philadelphia* (8-4)-No
Seattle - from Denver* (8-4)-likely

Arizona* (8-4) -No
Cincinnati* (9-3) -No

San Diego* (9-3)-No
Minnesota* (10-2) possible if still available

Indianapolis* (12-0)- My opinion the best place for him..but not likely
New Orleans* (12-0) -No

A couple of things Seattle could do..

I expect them to take a OL or DB with that first pick..I know they like Spiller at the late pick...but something that is possible is they take Bradford with the early pick and Spiller with the later pick...

If Bradford is somebody they feel they can pick up later, then they will stick with the OL with the early pick

They run the same on the watch, on the field McClain appears faster and bigger. McClain is a better open field tackler. Better pursuit. Better play reader. All around just a more talented football player. JMSO.

I will guarantee:D McClain goes ahead of Spikes if he does in fact come out this year.

stoops the eternal pimp
12/11/2009, 07:24 PM
McClain and Spikes are both within 1/2 inch of each other and play at the same weight...game film( I have about 2 hours of each) shows that both are about the same in the run d but Spikes a little better in the passing D..I'm not sure about the play reader, because Spikes shows to be better as far as not biting on PA....Now if your gonna look at the SEC and base it off that game, then yes....But then again, Spikes doesnt have a top 10 type NT playing in front of him like McClain does who usually requires a double..

Could McClain get drafted in front of him..definitely, especially coming out of a 3-4 system...both have some off the field and character issues that will be worked over in interviews..

again, a top 100 isnt based on when they will be drafted but mostly off of pure pro potential... and so far(honestly I've just watched 1/2 of the dvd I was sent) it would be a nose ahead for spikes.

for some reason from the end of last season, a lot of the draft people on tv were really hyping McCoy as a top 5-15 pick and I have no idea why.

strictly from a scouting point, I can't see that he improved any from last season..mediocre arm and average passer in the pocket...he has the intangables but I dont see him as anything else than a servicable backup if that....

Locker is tough, developed into a pretty good qb in the pocket, a season with steve sarkisian, pretty compact release, and can make the NFL throws....very comparable to Matt Ryan but can scramble...
