Apparently this was in the Gazette a month ago, which explains why nobody knew about it until yesterday:

There's a Molly Murphy's book written by Tayer's widow that is interesting about the rise and fall of a business. I picked it up at Full Circle Books one time when we were in OKC, I have seen it on Amazon as well.

Wow! What a lot of great memories in there.

For some inexplicable reason, Linda Soundtrak and her stores have really been on my mind the past week. I had no idea if she was still alive, much less that Soundtrak was reopening in OKC.

But that's just something that makes me feel good to see. I don't think they'll be able to compete with the big box national stores, but good luck to them.

And was that Gary Busey? An actor that would someday win an Oscar?

Speaking of -- two more Oklahoma personalities I'd like an update for if anyone has it. How about Mary Hart? She was 70s/80s staple on craptacular OKC local programming. She left and eventually became host on one of those Hollywood celebrity watching shows.

Then there was a woman -- shoot, can not remember her name -- who was a local anchor. She left OKC and became a national reporter I think for NBC. I'll think about her and see if I can come with a name.

This thread has been a fabulous walk down memory lane.

Bella Shaw and Ron Thulin both left KFOR (I think) to head to a start up network called CNN. Ron Thulin still does some sports broadcasting and I have seen Bella Shaw in some infomercials.

If you watch Los Angeles Dodger baseball games you can see Mary and her now husband sitting front row behind the backstop just to the pitchers right at pretty much every home game at Dodger Stadium. I think she is pretty much retired from TV now. I remember when she was a substitute teacher at my jr. high before getting the Dannysday gig. Her ex-husband was still living in OKC (they divorced before she moved to LA) the last I heard through a mutual friend but that was a long, long time ago.

yup...it was Gary and Gailard Sartain from HeeHaw and quite a few Movies including The Buddy Holly Story where he played The Big Bopper.

Funny story about Gailard...

He walked into my Store in Tulsa and bought a bunch of bb's and pellets from me as he said he had a pidgeon problem he was gonna resolve. :D Anyway I asked him if it was true if he had gone to School at Cascia Hall as I had gone there 5 years and and heard that rumor. He told me he indeed did go there. Gailard: "I went there 7th, 8th and 8th! There was a clerical error in there somewhere". :D

Anyway I think he was to much of a cut-up for the Priests there....lol

He moved on to Rogers HS and Tulsa University.

I always thought he was as funny as Gary.
