Well, that's probably good news for us in next year's matchup!

if he can win 10 games a year in Cincy, i'm thinking he can do it at Notre Dame

Could hurt us in 2012 when we start a home and home with the Irish.

"According to published reports..."? That Fiutak doesn't even bother to cite?

And since when did Brian Kelly "openly campaign for the job?"

I hate sports journalists, and I REALLY hate Pete Fiutak.

Totally different situation.

He'll be fired by then.

People do their homework. These things are usually decided in advance.

I'm confused, do you consider Fiutak to be a sports journalist?

I thought he was just a blogger in his mom's basement...

I thought he was CK's lover.

Didn't someone say ND wouldn't hire Kelly since he is pro-choice? What if he turns around and opens an "Unplanned Parenthood" clinic in South Bend?

I think it's pretty dooshy to report this before the official announcement anyway. The guy wanted to tell his players personally that he'd been lying to them about not wanting the job and now he gets to look like even more of a dick since they got to hear the news from a jackass reporter instead.

#s 13 and 14 above...haha, good stuff! Give a rip! Just don't let him take Marty Gilyard with him.

If true.......this move is a terrible decision for ND. Offensive talent hasn't been a problem for ND, but stopping ANYBODY has been. Why go out and hire a guy who can't field a decent defensive team. Did anybody watch the Cincy/Pitt game? That d was terrible!

sounds like Dan Hawkins to me

Hawkins was beating up on the WAC though, not the Big East

Yeah, the Big East got us into the title game last year... while whoever Texas played got them to the Fiesta Bowl :D

Futiak is really laming out on this... in one of his articles he wrote that Notre Dame would be a step up for Bob Stoops.... I wrote him on this and here is his reply..

"Oklahoma isn’t national. Notre Dame is. Bob Stoops getting fired wouldn’t get a tenth of the coverage that the Charlie Weis firing got.

Thanks for reading!

I couldn't disagree more... are my crimson colored glasses distorting my perception?

Not at all, he's drunk. OU is no more "regional" than any other state university in this country.

I have to agree with Futiak with a caveat. If Bob Stoops got fired, it would be a huge CFB story - just a big as the Weis story. But if Stoops had been yet another coaching failure right after the Blake failure, then it wouldn't be a big story. ND manages to stay big news even though they have been mediocre on the field for decades.

No. Leach to Cincy. He wants out still, right?

After all this it will probably be Randy Edsall from Connecticut.

Just keep in mind that Fiutak's home 'territory' is the Chicago area. Now his response to you should make 150% more sense.

Don't we have seven "National" Championships?

Don't know diddly about Brian Kelly, but he certainly has the right name for the job.

Is this over and done with yet? I'd rather Stoops' name be attached to OU and not ND :(

Scott D
12/9/2009, 07:12 PM
His name isn't really attached anymore. The current scuttlebutt is it'll be Kelly or Edsel.

Word is also circulating that Kevin Wilson may be in the talk for the Cinci job. Don't quote me on this.... I just have been hearing it wispered in the streets.

Laugh if you must, but KW has done an outstanding job in his four years.

Remember Bomargate? A WR takes over at QB? Just hand it off to AD... oh, wait... AD's down, now... hmmm. Big 12 Championship?

2007 and 2008... 'nuff said.
